Shakira's Alamodome Show Halted Due To Technical Snag, Fans Wait Hours In Heat
Last Updated:
Shakira's postponement of the San Antonio show came as a shock to many who had already arrived at the Alamodome and were standing in long lines under the hot sun.
Fans in San Antonio were left disappointed after Shakira's concert at the Alamodome was suddenly postponed. Many had already arrived at the venue and stood in long lines under the scorching sun, only to find out that the show would not go on. Some concertgoers said they waited for hours but were never allowed inside.
According to Shakira's team, the cancellation was due to a technical issue with the stage setup. The problem involved a faulty truss — a crucial structure that supports production equipment — managed by a local staging company. With safety at risk, the concert was called off at the last minute.
The singer's team assured fans that they are working to resolve the issue and reschedule the show as soon as possible.
Fans waiting outside the venue shared photos of the huge crowd standing under the scorching Texas sun. Many were upset and took to social media to share their anger and frustration. Some even criticised the Hips Don't Lie singer by calling this unprofessional behaviour, as there was no early notice about the delay or cancellation.
A user wrote, 'One hour in line with temperatures over 32 Celsius (90 Fahrenheit), people fainting and Alamodome and Shakira don't care at all about the fans."

Another shared, 'Worst concert experience ever Shakira. So this crowd has been waiting over an hour and a half. But the Alamodome refuses to open the gates. People are passing out. Apparently, all over stage issues."

After receiving heavy criticism, Shakira explained why the show was postponed. She wrote, 'To perform in each city, we rely on a third party who locally provides the infrastructure to support the stage and the ceiling from which my production hangs. I am so sad to inform you that I have been told that due to a structural issue with a truss provided by this third-party company to support my stage, we are being forced to reschedule my sold-out show in San Antonio originally planned for tonight, June 13th."
'After a problem with the third-party structure in Boston, I demanded the addition of a new group of engineers and I have met directly with the company so that it could be thoroughly re-evaluated. After a detailed review, the company experts and engineers personally promised me that they had reinforced the structure and they guaranteed me 100% the safety and reliability of the show going forward. Not being able to perform for you tonight deeply affects me and my fans in San Antonio. I am here, devastated and heartbroken. I'm here trying to find a solution so can reschedule this San Antonio show for the coming days," the singer added.
This is not the first time Shakira had to cancel a show due to technical problems. In the past, the singer has cancelled shows in several places, including Washington DC, Boston, Peru, and Chile. These repeated issues have left many fans disappointed and some have even raised concerns about how her tour is being managed.
