MPD provides update on fair shooting
MIDLAND, Texas (KMID/KPEJ)- Amid an ongoing investigation, the Midland Police Department has provided an update on a weekend shooting at Our Lady of Guadalupe Family Fair. The shooting happened around 8:07 p.m. on April 26 in the 1400 block of Garden Lane.
Midland Police reported Monday that the investigation, so far, has found that during a fight/physical altercation between patrons of the carnival, a suspect involved in the fight fired shots.
'As the crowd began running from the area, a retired Midland County constable who was working security at the carnival observed a male armed with a handgun running from the scene,' MPD reported.
The suspect then ran from the area as officers responded and secured the scene. As part of that response, several people were detained and interviewed.
Around 8:19 p.m. that same evening, the department received a call from a man in the 1300 block of Hamby who reported that they had been shot at the carnival. The victim was taken by Midland Fire to Midland Memorial Hospital.
The investigation is active and on-going.
