Sir David Attenborough and the Natural History Museum have teamed up for a new immersive experience

Sir David Attenborough may be homing in on his ninety-ninth birthday, but the most treasured of all national treasures is still out there plugging away at being history's greatest ever TV naturalist. On May 8 – the day he turns 99 – his new documentary film Ocean will hit cinemas, ahead of its arrival on Disney+ later this year. And a month later he'll present Our Story with David Attenborough, a new attraction at the Natural History Museum. We're not 100 percent sure of exactly what this involves, but we're about 95 percent certain it's effectively a new documentary that will be displayed at large scale on the walls and floors of the museum's Jerwood Gallery. We do know what it's about, though: us! Running for 50 minutes, the documentary offers an overview of our species, presumably from a more evolutionary than historical perspective. Quoth Sir David himself: 'Humanity is the most influential species on Earth. We depend entirely on this magnificent planet, yet its future is in our hands. My hope is that visitors of all ages will experience our extraordinary journey at the Natural History Museum and come away feeling inspired, informed and most of all, empowered about their integral role in our world. This is our story and we can all play a significant role.' Basically yes blah blah it's 'immersive' but it's also a new David Attenborough documentary, and what sort of sick freak doesn't want one of those?

China, Malaysia hold events to deepen cultural ties

As Chinese President Xi Jinping embarked on a state visit to Malaysia on Tuesday, a cultural exchange event between the two sides was held in Kuala Lumpur on the same day. The event, hosted by China Media Group (CMG), aimed to deepen cultural ties while enhancing people-to-people level exchanges between the two countries. The event drew more than 200 prominent figures from political, business, cultural, academic and media circles from both China and Malaysia. Shen Haixiong, vice minister of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and president of CMG, delivered a speech, highlighting the longstanding friendship between China and Malaysia and the role CMG has played documenting that relationship. In recent years, CMG has expanded its cooperation with Malaysian media partners to launch joint programs such as "Our Story" and "Global Watch," which all depicted the development journeys and mutual support between the two countries, Shen said. "CMG stands ready to work hand in hand with our Malaysian friends to write a new chapter in China-Malaysia cultural exchanges and contribute further to the building of a closer China-Malaysia community with a shared future," he added. Chang Lih Kang, minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation of Malaysia, congratulated CMG on the success of the event and reaffirmed the strength of the bilateral relationship. Under the strategic guidance of our two leaders, Malaysia and China will continue to write new chapters of win-win cooperation, said Chang. During the event, CMG signed multiple cooperation agreements with Malaysian partners in areas including academic exchanges, media collaboration, personnel visits and think tank research. A series of new China-Malaysia media cooperation initiatives were also launched, hoping to tell stories of cultural exchange, shared prosperity, and people-to-people bonds between the two nations. OKC man's artwork now on the moon in 'MoonMars Museum'

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — An Oklahoma City man's digital artwork is now on the moon for years to come. It's now part of a MoonMars Museum that hitched a ride on a private lunar lander than touched down on the moon on Sunday. 'This is the beginning of the lunar economy,' said Joey Shebester. Shebester's digital artwork isn't just reaching for the stars. 'No, to the actual moon. We're going to the literal surface of the moon,' said Shebester. His brand name is 'Ferociously Amused.' He uses techniques he's learned over the years but on a digital medium. 'All of it centers around opening people up to altered states of consciousness,' said Shebester. 'You kind of lose your sense of self, your identity and sense of time and you're just part of the process.' They're all part of what's called the MoonMars Museum. Shebester said to think of it more as a time capsule, with the option of viewing the museum digitally on its website. According to MoonMars Museum, it hitched a ride on the commercial Firefly Aerospace Blue Ghost Lunar Lander, which was launched into orbit on a SpaceX rocket in January. It landed on the moon on Sunday. Shebester said all the pieces are on a small special physical form designed to survive the elements. He said it will stay there, possibly forever. 'We can't even really imagine what all is going to be done with this,' said Shebester. If people, hundreds of years from now, see his artwork on the moon, Shebester hopes it will inspire them to break out of their natural mode of thinking. 'Get into a state of inquisitive play,' he said. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed.
