Cynthia Erivo and Oprah recreated Wicked's 'holding space' meme to open 2025 Tony Awards It wasn't that long ago that "holding space" took over as the big internet meme thanks to Wicked stars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande. On Sunday, Erivo and Oprah Winfrey brought it back in a subtle way during the opening of the 2025 Tony Awards. Back in November 2024 during Wicked's press tour, Erivo and Grande had a bizarre moment with an interviewer from about the lyrics of the showstopper "Defying Gravity". In it, the phrase "holding space" was used and the meme was born from there, with Grande also awkwardly holding Erivo's finger amidst the conversation. It's been some time since we, as a society, held space for the "holding space" meme, but on Sunday, Erivo and Oprah Winfrey recreated the moment during the introduction to the 2025 Tony Awards.

for Celebrities attend the 2025 Out & The Advocate Pride Cover Party: Pride of Broadway, hosted by and equalpride in New York City. Category is: Pride of Broadway! Equalpride, the parent company of Out and The Advocate, got together a star-studded lineup of celebrities to kick off Pride Month with a fabulous New York City event this Monday. The 2025 Pride of Broadway event honored the Broadway divas gracing the cover of Out's Pride issue — Lea Salonga (Old Friends), Maleah Joi Moon (Hell's Kitchen), Megan Hilty (Death Becomes Her), Kristin Chenoweth (The Queen of Versailles), and Idina Menzel (Redwood). The Advocate's Pride cover star, Cynthia Nixon (And Just Like That…), was also honored at the event, held at Somewhere Nowhere NYC. Meanwhile, several other LGBTQ+ stars were in attendance at this fabulous Pride of Broadway party. They included Conrad Ricamora (Oh, Mary!), Nathan Lee Graham (Mid-Century Modern), Peppermint, Jelani Alladin (Fellow Travelers), comedian Punkie Johnson, Tituss Burgess, Jeopardy! champion Amy Schneider, Wilson Cruz, Dominique Jackson (Pose), and RuPaul's Drag Race alumni such as Jan Sport and Jackie Cox, to name a few. Celebrity Traitors cast: the 20 stars ‘confirmed' for BBC hit
The cast for the highly-anticipated first season of Celebrity Traitors has been 'confirmed'. A laundry list of recognisable names and faces are set to head to the famous castle in Scotland. Claudia Winkleman will be on hosting duties for the star-studded spin-off to the BBC hit. It is due to arrive in the autumn, the Beeb has previously revealed, followed by a regular civilian version in early 2026. Plenty of names have been linked with the show, but The Mirror has now 'confirmed' the cast. It includes an England legend, film stars, TV icons and many more. A source told The Mirror: 'There will be a huge mix of personalities - and ego sizes. Seeing how it all works out is going to be fascinating. The team making the show are expecting it to be quite different to the regular version because the celebrities will be less motivated by the prize fund but care far more about how they come across. "It will be really interesting to see how the gameplay compares, along with which tactics they employ. Hopefully one thing that will remain the same is that it will be a lot of fun to watch." People Are Literally Begging Cynthia Erivo To Hold Ariana Grande's Hand After Another Clip Of Her Awkwardly Rejecting Her Emerged Online
If there is one thing that we unexpectedly learned from the Wicked press tour, it's that Ariana Grande's ultimate love language appears to be physical touch, with the star regularly seen reaching for her costar Cynthia Erivo during interviews and public appearances. For example, who can forget the time she solemnly reached out to hold onto Cynthia's index finger after Cynthia became emotional over people 'holding space' for her performance of 'Defying Gravity'? / Via This incident led to people retrospectively examining just how often Ariana and Cynthia have held hands during the promotion of the movie, and Cynthia herself even shed some light on the situation in a subsequent interview. 'Ari needs contact when there's emotion,' she explained at the time. 'She needs to be close, so I just be there for a second.' And with this in mind, it's perhaps unsurprising that when a clip of Cynthia unknowingly rejecting Ariana's reach for contact resurfaced on X last month, people were left heartbroken. The footage had been captured during a private Wicked screening in November, and at one point, Cynthia placed her hand on the arm of Ari's chair. Almost immediately, Ariana reached over, only for Cynthia to move her hand away — prompting Ari to quickly retract her own back to her lap while looking undeniably dejected. Now, just a couple of weeks after that viral moment, I regret to inform you that it has happened again, with Cynthia once again pulling her hand away from Ariana's at the Tokyo premiere of Wicked on Tuesday. For reference, the entire event was live-streamed on YouTube, meaning fans could watch it in real-time. In the clip in question, Ariana is speaking to the audience ahead of the movie's screening. As she and Cynthia share a laugh together, Ariana reaches her hand out towards her costar. Cynthia initially appears to be reciprocating as she extends her hand — only to move it away at the last moment. Ariana continues speaking as she turns her body away from Cynthia towards the crowd. Sharing the video on X, one popular tweet reads: 'not again.. cynthia pls hold ariana's hand 😭' 'it's stressing me and I am not even Ariana,' somebody else replied. One more claimed that this was actually the third time this has happened as they wrote: 'if i had a nickel for every time ari reached for cynthia's hand expecting to hold it but not succeeding i'd have 3 nickels which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened three times.' 'She moved it closer but then didn't,' somebody else observed, while one more declared of Ari: 'SHE NEEDS TO HOLD HANDS TO SURVIVE.' This wasn't the only viral moment from the Tokyo premiere, with fans also catching Ariana struggling to walk up some stairs in her dress — and Cynthia as well as Wicked's director, Jon M. Chu, rushing to help her. In the live-stream clip, Ari can be seen taking careful steps as she attempts to follow her costar onto the stage, but when she reaches the top of the stairs, she becomes a little bit stuck. Realizing that Ari wasn't immediately behind them, Cynthia and Jon rush to her aid, but Ariana manages to get herself up just before they reach her. Ariana reacted to this moment on her Instagram account, sharing the video to her story and adding: 'the unison panic !!!!! @jonmchu @cynthiaerivo i love you both so much 😭' Ariana followed up with a popular tweet that shared screenshots of the moment with the caption: 'NO WITCH LEFT BEHIND,' and wrote: 'this is tickling me soooo' before posting another zoomed-in screenshot of Cynthia and Jon rushing towards her.
