Police investigating reported explosive device in Owego
OWEGO, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – Several police agencies responded to a report of a possible bomb in the Village of Owego on Wednesday.
At around 9:30 a.m., the Owego Police Department was dispatched to 77-79 Liberty Street in Owego for a report of a possible Improvised Explosive Device.
Police closed the immediate scene off to the public and the nearby residences were evacuated.
The Endicott Bomb Squad arrived at the scene. Bomb K-9 Units from Tompkins County and Cornell University responded as well. Owego Fire Department and Owego EMS were both placed on standby for assistance.
Police determined that no other devices were present. The Endicott Bomb Squad rendered the Improvised Explosive Devices safe.
The investigation remains ongoing.
