WWE's Mariah May Expected To Undergo Major Change: Report
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Mariah May made her impactful and long-awaited WWE debut on the June 3, 2025, episode of NXT. By doing so, she immediately inserted herself into the NXT Women's Championship picture. This surprise appearance came just days after her contract with All Elite Wrestling expired, where she was a former AEW Women's World Champion. The segment saw new NXT Women's Champion Jacy Jayne attempting to celebrate her title win over Stephanie Vaquer from the previous week. Her address was interrupted by a series of NXT women, including Thea Hail, Lola Vice, Lash Legend, Jaida Parker, Kelani Jordan, and Jordynne Grace, all staking a claim for a title shot, leading to a brawl. As chaos broke out, the lights dimmed, and a spotlight hit the crow's nest, revealing May. While WWE announcers did not mention her by name, May took the microphone with a clear message. "It's about damn time. I've wrestled all over the world, and it's only right that The Glamour arrives in NXT," May declared in a digital exclusive later posted on WWE NXT's X account. 8/25/24 AEW ALL IN - London, England 8/25/24 AEW ALL IN - London, England Lee South/AEW Despite her established "Mariah May" name, which is believed to be her real name, TC WrestleVotes reports that WWE will be getting a new name under the Stamford-based promotion once it's decided what it will be. She will be getting a new name once it's decided upon. — TC | WrestleVotes (@TCwrestlevotes) June 4, 2025 More news: WWE News: Steve Austin Reveals Real-Life Vince McMahon Confrontation This approach mirrors that of another former AEW talent, Ricky Starks, whose name was initially unmentioned upon his NXT arrival before being changed to Ricky Saints. This strategy often relates to WWE securing intellectual property rights for its characters. May, originally from the United Kingdom, was encouraged by WWE coaches to gain global experience after an NXT UK tryout in 2018. She made a significant name for herself in Japan with STARDOM, where she captured the Goddesses of Stardom Championship with Mina Shirakawa. She then joined AEW in late 2023, initially as Toni Storm's protégé, before winning the 2024 Owen Hart Foundation Tournament and defeating Storm for the AEW Women's World Championship at All In 2024. This is a title Storm later regained at Revolution 2025. Her arrival adds another major talent to NXT's stacked women's division, which also includes champion Jacy Jayne. Darby Allin scales Mount Everest, becomes first pro wrestler to reach the summit
Image via AEW AEW's Darby Allin has officially reached the summit of Mount Everest, becoming the first professional wrestler to achieve the feat. The 32-year-old scaled the world's highest peak at 8:50 AM local time on May 18, 2025, alongside a team of experienced Sherpas. The expedition was part of the Everest Pvt 25 Experience, and Allin's team included renowned climbers Ang Dorjee Sherpa (24th summit), Pasang Bhote (14th summit), Tashi Thundu Sherpa (12th summit), and Pemba Sherpa (2nd summit). According to the official update, the team is now descending to Camp 4 after briefly soaking in the surreal moment at the summit. The climb had been in the works for over a year. Allin had originally planned to attempt Everest in 2024 but postponed the expedition after suffering a broken foot during an AEW match. He began his climb in early April with New Zealand-based Adventure Consultants and has been off AEW programming since December 2024. Record-breaking feat at 20,958 feet In addition to reaching the summit, Allin set a world record for the highest kickflip ever performed - at an elevation of 20,958 feet. The stunt underscores the daredevil persona that Allin has cultivated both inside and outside the wrestling ring. AEW officially acknowledged Allin's achievement with a congratulatory post on social media, stating, 'Congratulations to @DarbyAllin for reaching the summit of Mount Everest!' Fellow AEW wrestler Swerve Strickland also reacted to the news, writing 'TOP OF THE WORLD!!!' in a message of support. While fans and colleagues have celebrated the monumental feat, Allin's wrestling future remains uncertain. He was last seen on AEW television during a Continental Classic Match against Ricochet in December 2024, which ended in a draw. He was written off TV following a storyline attack by The Death Riders. Reports had suggested that Allin might return in time for the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament or AEW's Double or Nothing pay-per-view on May 25. However, with his Everest expedition still underway, it's unlikely he will appear at either. There's no official timeline for Allin's return, but when he does step back into the ring, fans can expect him to resume his rivalry with Jon Moxley and The Death Riders - a storyline that AEW has deliberately left open-ended. For now, Darby Allin is living up to his moniker in a way no one expected, by reaching literal new heights. Toni Storm Threatens To Drain Mercedes Moné's 401K And Make Her Drink Her Bath Water
Photo Cedit: AEW The 2025 Owen Hart Foundation Tournament commenced at the AEW Dynasty pay-per-view. As always, the winner of the tournament will earn a Women's World Championship match. Recently, the current AEW Women's World Champion 'Timeless' Toni Storm sent a message to all the participants of the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament. Advertisement 'Ladies, good luck. But this is a Timeless Cafe. And I am going to bake up the biggest batch of slop tarts you have ever seen. Billie Starkz, you johnny-come-lately, milked-breathed, nobby kneed little brat, I will make a woman out of you. Harley Cameron, call me Jim Henson because I will wear you on my wrist and make you sing Rainbow connection…' Toni Storm also sent a warning to Mercedes Moné, Jamie Hayter, and ROH Women's Champion Athena. 'Mercedes Moné, our CEO, what an unfortunate nickname. I will drain your 401K and put you so deep in a recession you'll have to drink my bath water. Kris Statlander, my God! What a woman! Athena, You may be the Ring of Honor forever champion but you will last about two minutes with me. And Jamie Hayter, take my advice: no money has ever been made from dressing like you are in a different era. And as for me, I could sit at home and watch this entire tournament, eating Veal Parmesan. But that's not the kind of woman I am, yet. Nevertheless, at Double or Nothing I will be there, I'll be watching, and I'll be sweating. And I will always be, Timeless,' 'Timeless' Toni Storm said. Who do you think will win the 2025 Women's Owen Hart Foundation Tournament? The post Toni Storm Threatens To Drain Mercedes Moné's 401K And Make Her Drink Her Bath Water appeared first on Wrestlezone.
