Rangers deal Ornelas to Braves
The Texas Rangers have traded utility guy Jonathan Ornelas to the Atlanta Braves for cash considerations, it was announced today. Ornelas had been designated for assignment to make room for Michael Helman, who was claimed off waivers by the Rangers.
Ornelas was the Rangers' third round pick in 2018. All four of the Rangers' first four picks — Cole Winn, Owen White, Ornelas and Mason Englert — have made the bigs, but have been fringe guys, with all but Winn having been designated for assignment at least once.
