Bosses Pledge To Topshop Store As U.K. Fashion Icon Plots Return
After four years away, a Topshop store could be back on main street by August as the famous U.K. fashion retailer plans a return to bricks and mortar. The once hugely successful fashion brand, which was founded in 1964, had more than 500 stores across the world at the peak of its fame and was one of the most prominent names on the British high street. Topshop was one of the powerhouses of the global apparel world in the late 1990s and early 2000s and was the flagship of Sir Philip Green's all-encompassing Arcadia empire, with stores worldwide including on Fifth Avenue, New York. The company's global flagship on the junction of Regent Street and Oxford Street in the heart of London's West End was a huge draw for shoppers of all ages and Topshop became the queen of cheap chic. Its iconic flagship was recently reopened as an urban IKEA store by the Swedish giant. However, since its stores closed in 2021, the retailer has focused on selling its apparel via the likes of online retailer Asos and through pop-ups. In September last year, Asos sold a 75% stake in Topshop and Topman to the Heartland, an arm of Bestseller. Asos sold the majority stake in the business for $178 million to the Danish fashion business controlled by the major Asos shareholder Anders Povlsen, who already owns popular European retail brands including Jack & Jones and Vero Moda via his Bestseller business. The deal helped it repay debts and at the time there were rumors that the deal could see the brand return to the high stree. Asos acquired Topshop with other brands just over three years prior for nearly $435 million. Last month, Topshop hosted a pop-up event at Defected Records in East London, which drew in huge crowds and bosses have now said that the overwhelming reaction from the public has led to discussions about the brand's future. Speaking to Drapers about future plans for physical stores, Topshop managing director Michelle Wilson said that it was something that the company had been working on 'all the time' and confirmed that the retailer will have a permanent store presence 'at some point'. Wilson said: 'In the shorter term that will be something with partner support and in the longer term we will do something standalone.' She added that the return of Topshop will begin through working with wholesale partnerships from this August, before relaunching standalone stores. Much of the excitement surrounding the relaunch has been shaped by the brand's own social media. 'We promised on socials that we would be there in August,' said Wilson. 'We have something planned in August to bring Topshop back into real life again, with a more semi-permanent presence than the one-day pop-up.' Wilson was appointed managing director of the apparel brands Topshop and Topman in February, along with Moses Rashid, founder of sneaker resale site The Edit Ldn, who became global marketing director. First part of Sir Philip Green's Arcadia Group, the Topshop and Topman brands were snapped up in 2021 by Asos, alongside Miss Selfridge, after Topshop fell into administration in late 2020 as part of the collapse of Green's retail group as the disgraced former retail guru saw his business empire fall apart. Asos retained a 22.5% stake and its Topshop partner, the Seattle-based department store group Nordstrom, which owns just over 2% of the business, with Heartland controlling the remainder. Heartland is an investment and holding company representing the interests of the Holch Povlsen family, and their family business Bestseller, and it completed the deal through its subsidiary Aktieslskabet, pledging to look at the viability of a Topshop store.

Nintendo Switch 2 launch – live: I've just got my console, here's how to get yours
It's finally happening. The Nintendo Switch 2 launches at midnight tonight, and I've just received my console. After reports that Nintendo wouldn't send out consoles to journalists to preview, I've since got my hands on a brand new Nintendo Switch 2. I've been ripping open the box as I type out this update. If you want your own, it's a little late to preorder, but shops across the country are getting ready to fling open their doors. Every Smyths Toys will be open from 12am, with a small amount of extra stock for anyone who fancies queuing. Over on Oxford Street, Currys is running its own launch event, but it's strictly for customers who've already pre-ordered from the branch. A few retailers are holding back stock for Thursday morning. Argos says it'll have consoles ready to collect from 6am, with same-day click and collect available nationwide. EE will have Switch 2 bundles too, though you'll need to be an existing pay monthly customer to get in on the action. I've been chasing down Switch 2 stock for weeks, and it's safe to say availability is thinning out by the hour. If you've left it late, there's still a decent chance, but you'll need to move fast. I'll be updating this blog with every restock and bundle I can find, and the team and I are on the night shift tonight to catch anything that drops after dark. Nintendo Switch 2 stock at UK retailers A closer look at the unboxing I'm juggling unboxing this console and keeping an eye on stock, but if you want a closer look, here's the screen on the Nintendo Switch 2: The screen is larger than the original Switch, with nearly two extra inches on its predecessor. Alex Lee4 June 2025 17:14 My Nintendo Switch 2 console just arrived Many writers reported that they wouldn't receive a Nintendo Switch 2 console before the launch, so you can imagine how shocked I was when the doorbell went and, well: After months of covering the console, it feels surreal to have it in front of me. If you want to order a console, it won't arrive in time for launch day, but you can still get your hands on one: Pre-order now at ShopTo Pre-order now at Very Alex Lee4 June 2025 16:42 How to prepare for the Nintendo Switch 2 launch If you're hoping to buy a Nintendo Switch 2 tonight, now's a good time to get everything ready. Make sure you're logged in to your retailer accounts, your payment details are saved, and delivery info is filled in. There's nothing worse than having to make an account when all you want to do is buy a console. Some sites (like the My Nintendo Store) will only let you buy the console if you have an active Switch Online membership, while others (like EE) require you to be a pay monthly customer. Alex Lee4 June 2025 15:41 Who's probably not worth checking at midnight? Very and ShopTo are both still taking pre-orders right now, with delivery scheduled for next week – 9 June at ShopTo and 13 June at Very. Since they're already in stock, they'll probably still be available at midnight, but nothing's likely to change. If you're aiming for launch day delivery, these aren't the ones to watch. Game? Don't bother, I say. After cancelling some pre-orders last week, its FAQ now says: 'We cannot guarantee there will be stock available in stores'. Right now, you can weirdly get a Switch 2 into your basket for £9,999. It might indicate a launch day restock, but who knows at this point. Alex Lee4 June 2025 15:00 Who's more likely to restock in the morning? Argos has confirmed it will go live at 6am with launch day stock for same-day click and collect, so set your alarm if you're planning to try there. Amazon is another one to watch. It had pre-order stock live for most of last week but hasn't restocked since the weekend. Based on how it's handled other console launches, I'm expecting stock to appear between 8am and 9:30am. Midnight feels unlikely. John Lewis has confirmed the console will be available to buy on 5 June, but hasn't said when. It doesn't typically drop stock overnight, so a morning release is a safe bet. Alex Lee4 June 2025 14:20 New Zealand and Day One update has entered the chat It's officially launch day in New Zealand, and people are already starting to receive their Nintendo Switch 2 consoles (or they're collecting them in-person). New Year's Eve energy. It also looks like the day one update has rolled out globally, so anyone who's managed to get a console early should now be able to upgrade their machine to play Mario Kart World. Alex Lee4 June 2025 13:48 Who's most likely to go live at midnight? If you're staying up for launch, Smyths is the most reliable bet. Every store across the UK and Ireland is opening at 12am, and there's a good chance it'll have stock online around the same time. The My Nintendo Store is also one to watch. There's been no formal announcement, but it's the official storefront – it has to go live at some point on Thursday. I'll be checking it at midnight just in case. Currys is a bit of a toss-up. It's holding a midnight launch at its Oxford Street store, which makes it possible the site could update too, but given the old listings said "pick up within 1 hour", there's a chance it's planning to go live in the morning for same-day click and collect. Still, I'll be checking overnight. Alex Lee4 June 2025 13:42 US retailers are reportedly cancelling some Switch 2 pre-orders There are reports that Switch 2 pre-orders are being cancelled across several US retailers, including Walmart, Target and Best Buy. Some customers have taken to Reddit and social media to say their orders were dropped without warning, just days before launch. Some believe it might be due to retailers overselling their allocated stock, or last-minute stock issues related to tariffs and shipping delays. Walmart has reportedly offered a few affected customers a $15 gift card by way of apology, and while GameStop posted saying it isn't cancelling orders, a few people have replied with screenshots saying otherwise. Right now, this only seems to be affecting US orders. Besides Game, I haven't seen any other orders getting cancelled. If you're in the US, you'll be able to pre-order a console at most major retailers tomorrow. I've got all the details in the article below: How to get a Nintendo Switch 2 from Best Buy, GameStop, Target and more Walmart, Best Buy, Target and GameStop will have Nintendo Switch 2 stock on launch day Alex Lee4 June 2025 13:02 John Lewis listings confirm launch day restock John Lewis has confirmed that the Switch 2 will be available to buy on launch day. Its listings now read: 'Pre-orders are now sold out. Available to buy from 5 June 2025.' That suggests a restock is definitely coming, though there's no exact time listed yet. John Lewis doesn't usually do midnight drops, so I'm expecting stock to go live sometime in the morning. If you're planning to try your luck, it's worth checking at around 7am – that's when the PS5 used to go live. Alex Lee4 June 2025 12:51 Will Amazon go live at midnight tonight? Amazon had Switch 2 pre-order stock live for most of last week, but it's all sold out now. It's hard to know if Amazon will have launch day stock – all of its pre-orders were scheduled to be delivered on Friday 6 June and Saturday 7 June, so its next wave of consoles might not arrive until the week after. If it does restock, I'm not expecting it to go live at midnight. Amazon doesn't typically do 12:01am launches. When the PS5 and Xbox Series X were released, it was dropped mid-morning at 8am, rather than overnight. Alex Lee

Nintendo Switch 2 live: Last chance to pre-order a console as release date nears
We're days away from the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2, and excitement is starting to set in. This is your last chance to pre-order a console before the big day. Some retailers have already pulled listings (and, in Game's case, pre-orders themselves), and others are still drip-feeding bundles. I'm seeing fewer choices out there now, but you have options. For example, there will be midnight launches across the country. Every Smyths Toys shop will open at 12am for early pick-ups, with a little extra stock on hand for the first few through the door. Currys is running its own launch event too, but only at the Oxford Street store and just for customers who've already pre-ordered a console. However, I've been tracking bundles for weeks, and Nintendo Switch 2 stock is dwindling as we get closer to the big day. If you're chasing down a console, camp out right here. I'll be hunting down every Nintendo Switch 2 console and bundle so you can play Mario Kart World from day one. If you want to buy a console ASAP, here are your best bets right now: Nintendo Switch 2 stock at UK retailers Nintendo Switch 2 launches this week Good morning! Launch week has finally arrived! It's been a long wait – more than four months since the gaming giant first announced the console – but the Nintendo Switch 2 is finally landing this Thursday on 5 June. If you're still hunting down the console, there are only two retailers with stock available right now – Amazon and Very. I'll be rounding up all the consoles and bundles and their delivery dates throughout the day, as well as reporting on the latest Nintendo Switch 2 news, and watching for more stock drops. Stay tuned. I did a haul of the new Oxford Street IKEA whilst on my lunch break & managed to kit out my home with bargains under £3
HAVING recently stepped onto the housing ladder, I've become completely obsessed with kitting out my new place. But let's be honest – being a full-time mortgage payer means saving money is now my number one priority. 6 6 6 6 That's why IKEA has quickly become my go-to for affordable homeware that doesn't break the bank. The only problem? My nearest store is a bit of a trek, and we all know that 'popping' into IKEA for something small can quickly turn into an all-day adventure. So, when I heard IKEA had opened a new store on Oxford Street, I was beyond excited. Suddenly, I could nip in during my lunch break, grab what I needed, and tick a huge job off my to-do list – all without the hassle of traffic or making a day out of it. I even had time to grab a coffee. Total game-changer. Walking into the store honestly felt like stepping into Narnia. Who would've thought you could find a full-on IKEA on one of the busiest shopping streets in London? This is the second of IKEA's smaller-format stores, but it still has 6,000 products on display – even though only 3,500 are available to buy in-store, with the rest available to order. Spread across two floors, there's more than enough to help you kit out your home. I managed to pick up some absolute bargains, like the RINNIG Dish Cloths, £1.00 for a pack, – perfect for tackling kitchen messes – and the STORAVAN 3-Piece Bathroom Set, £1.75, which instantly gave my bathroom a stylish, cohesive look. I also grabbed some IKEA 365+ Coasters, £1.50, which are both functional and chic, and a HÅLLBAR Bin with Lid, £3.00, ideal for small spaces with its sleek design. The Sun takes a trip inside the new Ikea Oxford Street To keep things organised, the TJENA Storage Box, £3.00, was a no-brainer, and I couldn't resist the IVRIG Glasses, £1.50 each, which look far more expensive than their price tag. I also got my hands on two sets of sheer curtains for £9 each. And don't worry – they haven't forgotten the essentials, like their famous meatballs or iconic food items. There's a food store area where you can stock up on IKEA classics for your kitchen cupboards or freezer. Like any other IKEA, the store has the usual arrows guiding you around the entrance floor, where the showroom and restaurant are located. The basement floor is where you shop and check out, but here's the twist – there are only self-checkouts, no manned tills. 6 6 It's fast, efficient, and perfect for city life. I managed to complete the entire store and grab everything I needed in under an hour. If there was anything I couldn't carry, I could simply order it to be delivered to my home. Overhearing people in the queue, I wasn't the only one impressed – many praised the store for being so 'handy' and how it's perfect for people to 'quickly pop in on their lunch break,' just like I did. IKEA on Oxford Street is an absolute win – stylish, affordable, and so convenient. It's IKEA, but made for London life, and I'm officially hooked.
