UK and Germany to Jointly Develop New Strike Weapon
Britain and Germany are going to jointly develop a new 'deep precision strike' weapon with a range of more than 1,200 miles, London said on Thursday. The move follows a commitment the countries made to develop new weapons in a bilateral defense pact known as the Trinity House Agreement, signed last October. The weapons project will be jointly announced by British Defense Secretary John Healey and his German counterpart, Boris Pistorius, in Berlin later on Thursday. The new precision deep strike capability will be among the most advanced systems ever designed by the UK to safeguard the British public and reinforce NATO deterrence, while boosting the UK and European defense sectors, the UK Ministry of Defense Healy and Pistorius will also discuss a joint procurement program for Sting Ray torpedoes for P-8 Poseidon maritime patrol and reconnaissance aircraft, to improve both countries' ability to counter underwater threats. British Defense Secretary John Healey said: 'The UK and Germany have never been closer, and the Trinity House Agreement is already making a positive impact on our security and economy. This partnership is helping us make defense an engine for growth—creating jobs, boosting skills, and driving investment across the UK and Germany. F-35 fighters, MQ-9 UAVs, Trident missiles and more; Europe depends heavily on US military support, one move by Trump will send EU into...
New Delhi: There is a turmoil in Europe since Donald Trump became the American president again. Almost all European countries that used to be closest to America are now engaged in saving themselves. France, Germany, Britain, Norway, Sweden, and Poland are the most troubled. These countries are also worried that if Donald Trump increases sanctions on Europe, they will have no choice but to endure it. Europe's heavy reliance on American weapons means that if America cuts off its military cooperation with the European Union and Britain, Europe will face a serious problem. In this context, let's learn about the weapons for which Europe needs America. F-35 Jet: These fighter jets rely on the American autonomous logistics information system for maintenance support and software updates. Its European operators include Belgium, Denmark, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, and the United Kingdom. Future operators include the Czech Republic, Finland, Germany, Greece, Romania, and Switzerland. Drones: American-made UAVs used by European powers, such as the MQ-9 Reaper, rely on American satellite communication and software support. Trident Missile: Britain's nuclear option mainly includes ballistic missiles launched from American-made Trident submarines, which are regularly maintained in the United States. Patriot Missile System: The American-made Patriot surface-to-air missile system also relies on American information sharing. Communication Satellites: Other advanced American weapons integrated with American communication and satellite systems, which may be affected by the potential termination of U.S. information support, include surveillance and reconnaissance aircraft. P-8 Poseidon: European countries extensively use the American P-8 Poseidon aircraft for patrolling their maritime borders. These include Germany, Norway, and the United Kingdom. RC-135V/W Rivet Joint: The Boeing RC-135V/W Rivet Joint is a reconnaissance aircraft. It is used by both the United States and Britain. With its help, Britain monitors its airspace. E-7 Wedgetail: The Boeing E-7 Wedgetail is an AWACS aircraft. It is equipped with electronically scanned array radar, which can keep an eye on a large area. It is used by both the United States and Britain.
