Health Minister condemns the manner in which aspirants are frisked during NEET
There are not only irregularities in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) but also instances of misconduct that affects the mental health of the candidates, Health Minister Ma. Subramanian said on Monday.
Even last year, the Supreme Court had pulled up the National Testing Agency for lapses in conducting the NEET, he told reporters.
He said certain outrageous rules were being followed while the candidates were frisked. 'The Chief Minister has been taking measures to get the State exempted from the NEET, but the Union government is standing in the way,' he said.
Asked about the recommendation of a commission chaired by Justice P. Kalaiyarasan to reserve at least 10% of the medical course seats for government school students, the Minister said the 7.5% horizontal reservation was legally accepted. Given its benefits, the Chief Minister had extended the reservation to the other professional courses for the benefit of students from rural areas. He added that the Chief Minister would take a decision.
