Free house site pattas for minority communities sought in Erode
As many as 1,500 petitions seeking free house site pattas for minority communities were submitted to the district administration during the weekly grievances redress meeting at the Collectorate in Erode on Monday (June 23, 2025).
Led by P. Marimuthu, district secretary of the Tamil Nadu Minority People Welfare Committee, the members stated that Christians, Muslims, and other minority communities reside in large numbers in the taluk and across the district. Most of them are economically weak and depend on daily wages for their livelihood. They have been living in rented houses , and their socio-economic status has remained unchanged for generations.
The petition urged the administration to provide free house site pattas and construct houses under Government schemes to meet their basic needs and improve their standard of living. It also called on the authorities to take immediate action on the issue.
