Welfare schemes, development works reviewed in Tenkasi district
District Monitoring Officer P. Shankar reviewed the progress of ongoing development works and the implementation of welfare schemes on Friday.
At the meeting held in the presence of Collector A.K. Kamal Kishore, the implementation of welfare schemes like 'Naan Mudhalvan,' 'Puthumai Penn,' 'Thamizh Puthalvan,' giving assistance for renovating old houses, free housing scheme, giving patta to poor families living on government poramboke land for more than 10 years, drinking water supply in rural areas, breakfast scheme in schools, etc., were reviewed.
The meeting also reviewed the progress of ongoing renovation work at Main Falls cottages in Courtallam, desilting of Sembuli Channel in Vallam, Kalangaatha Kandi Channel in Shencottai, two irrigation tanks in Karkudi, additional classroom buildings in Puliyarai and the construction of new buildings in the gynaecology and paediatrics ward in Tenkasi Government Hospital.
The Monitoring Officer also handed over battery-operated wheelchairs to two differently abled beneficiaries after the review meeting.
Superintendent of Police S. Aravind, District Revenue Officer S. Jayachandran and senior officials from various departments participated in the meeting.
