Andhra Pradesh Govt. decides to initiate disciplinary action against IPS officer P.V. Sunil Kumar
The Government of Andhra Pradesh, on Thursday, decided to initiate disciplinary proceedings against senior IPS officer P.V. Sunil Kumar, the former Director General, Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Response and Fire Services, who is now under suspension, in accordance with the procedure laid down in Rule 8 of the All India Services (Discipline and Appeal), Rules, 1969.
The move comes a day after the arrest of another senior IPS officer P.S.R. Anjaneyulu. While Mr. Anjaneyulu was arrested in a case related to the alleged harassment of Mumbai-based actress Kadambari Jethwani, Mr. Sunil Kumar is facing charges related to misbehaviour and misconduct.
K. Vijayanand, Chief Secretary, issued G.O. RT. No. 763 on Thursday stating that Mr. Sunil Kumar made several foreign visits by deviating from the actual itinerary for which he sought permission of the Government. Mr. Sunil Kumar made several other foreign visits even without taking permission of the Government. Hence, the Government decided to initiate action against him.
'Mr. Sunil Kumar is directed to submit a written statement of defence and also to state whether he desires to be heard in person, within 30 days of receipt of this order. He is also informed that an inquiry will be held, only in respect of those charges which are not admitted. He is, therefore, required to specifically admit or deny each allegation,' the G.O. said.
Action would be initiated against him if he failed to respond, on the ground that he had no explanation to offer, the G.O. said.
