Marcos conducts inspection of over P8.87B seized illegal drugs
President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos on Tuesday conducted an inspection of the confiscated illegal drugs during recent operations, with a value of more than P8.87 billion.
Among those inspected by Marcos are the floating suspected shabu in the provinces in Luzon.
There were also evidence drugs, which were already directed by the courts to be destroyed.
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said that up for destruction through thermal decomposition are the 1,304.604 kilograms of shabu packs, with an estimated street price of P8,871,307,200.
These were found drifting in the waters of Zambales, Pangasinan, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur and Cagayan.
Since no person was apprehended and no criminal case was filed, the illegal drugs will be destroyed on account of a written order issued by the PDEA Director General.
Present during the inspection were Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla, Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Police General Nicolas Torre III.
In a BBM Podcast, the President admitted that the drug menace remains prevalent in the country, prompting him to task authorities to double down on solving the problem.
Marcos also said he wants law enforcers to go after small-scale drug dealers while strictly upholding due process in their anti-drug operations. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
