KOTA KINABALU (Apr 28): The Chief Executive Officer of Sabah Convention Bureau, Noredah Othman, was honored with the PATWA Gold Award for Individual Excellence in MICE & Destination Management year 2025. The award was won at the 25th and 2025 edition of the PATWA World Tourism & Aviation Leaders' Summit and the PATWA International Travel Awards at ITB, Berlin on March 5, 2025. This prestigious accolade acknowledges her outstanding contributions to the tourism industry and now the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) sector, alongside her dedication to enhancing the destination management landscape in Southeast Asia. Organized by the Pacific Area Travel Writers Association (PATWA), the annual awards celebrate excellence in the global travel and tourism industry. The award highlights Noredah's unwavering dedication to developing innovative and sustainable tourism strategies, her leadership in promoting Malaysia, in particular Sabah as a premier MICE destination, and her pivotal role in fostering international collaborations to drive tourism growth. 'I am deeply honored to receive this recognition from PATWA. This award is a testament to the collective efforts of our industry and stakeholders who work tirelessly to position Sabah, Malaysia as a top-tier MICE and travel destination. I share this achievement with them and remain committed to further enhancing the region's tourism industry,' said Noredah upon receiving the award. With an illustrious career spanning three decades, Noredah has been instrumental in crafting strategic tourism initiatives, attracting high-value business events, and strengthening Malaysia's global tourism appeal. Even though the agency Sabah Convention Bureau under the Ministry of Tourism, Culture & Environment Sabah is still in its infancy officially established last year 2024, Noredah's leadership has been pivotal in establishing its presence and positioning Sabah as a rising destination for MICE activities. The award was handed over by Secretary General of PATWA, Yatan Ahluwalia and the dignitaries on stage and received by the representative from Sabah on behalf Noredah at ITB, Berlin. The Pacific Area Travel Writers Association (PATWA) is a non-profit, non-government, professional, international media organisation founded in 1999. PATWA supports the sustainable development and growth of destinations, travel, tourism, hospitality, aviation (airlines and airports), transportation (cruise liners and rail), online travel platforms, travel technology, and allied service providers, worldwide.
