Former Springdale High School assistant basketball coach dies in crash
PINE BLUFF, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — A former assistant basketball coach at Springdale High School died in a crash over the weekend, according to the Pine Bluff Police Department. PBPD said around 11 p.m. on April 12, officers responded to a 'serious traffic collision' near South Hazel Street and 41st Avenue. A social media post from the department said that a preliminary investigation revealed that a white Nissan Altima driven by Matthew Williams, 37, was traveling south on South Hazel Street as a 2015 GMC Sierra was traveling north. The two vehicles collided and the driver of the GMC was ejected from his vehicle. The driver was taken to a nearby hospital, and his condition was listed as critical as of April 13. 11-year-old boy dies after being run over by SUV in Rogers Williams was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, according to PBPD. Williams was the head coach of the boys' basketball team at White Hall High School. He previously served as an assistant coach for the boys' basketball team at Springdale High School. The school released the following statement to KNWA/FOX24 on Monday: 'The Springdale Family is heartbroken to learn of the loss of Matt Williams. Our hearts go out to his family and to all the friends he made while here in Springdale.' Pine Bluff police investigating deadly crash involving multiple cars
PINE BLUFF, Ark. – The Pine Bluff Police Department is investigating a Wednesday afternoon crash involving multiple cars that left one person dead. Authorities said PBPD officers responded to a crash near West 33rd Avenue and South Olive Street around 2:44 p.m. Loved ones remember Arkansas mother and children killed in car crash When they arrived, officers said they found a red car with severe driver-side damage and a grey Chevrolet Silverado with front-end damage. Officers said there was also a white car that was hit because of the collision. Police said the driver of the red car, identified as 62-year-old Larry Strong, was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger of the red car had non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. PBPD officials said the drivers of the Silverado and the white car did not have life-threatening injuries and were not taken to the hospital.
