Gloucestershire Constabulary announced the untimely passing of PC Ian Minett on Saturday morning whose death is currently being treated as unexplained but not suspicious. In a heartfelt statement, the force said: "We extend our thoughts and prayers to PC Minett's family, friends, and colleagues, and we ask that his family are given privacy at this difficult time." The force's deputy chief constable Katy Barrow-Grint added: "Gloucestershire Constabulary is saddened about the death of PC Ian Minett whilst on duty yesterday morning (Saturday 21 June). PC Minett was a much loved and respected colleague who worked as a response officer and also served with the Constabulary for many years as a Special Constable. "At this point the cause of PC Minett's death is being treated as unexplained but non-suspicious and his family are being supported at this very difficult time. "We extend our thoughts and prayers to PC Minett's family, friends and colleagues. PC Minett will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and worked alongside him. Please can PC Minett's family be given privacy at this extremely difficult time." South Wales Police have also expressed their sorrow at PC Minett's passing: "We are very saddened by the news that a Gloucestershire Constabulary police officer died whilst on duty this weekend. Colleagues from across the police community have been honouring his memory, with many testimonies appearing on the One Police UK Facebook page, reports Gloucestershire Live. B shift won't be the same without you." Ashleigh Louise spoke with admiration: "Ian was an amazing colleague who I am honoured to have worked with for the last 2 years. Always stayed on late to make sure the handovers were up together for us. You are, and always will be a part of Cheltenham police. You will be so missed here by everyone." Reflecting on years of shared service, Rachel Stemp wrote: "Such a kind gentleman, helped me only 2 weeks ago when myself and my colleague needed backing up. Known him my whole 18 years service and was a brilliant officer, much loved and going to be missed. My thoughts are with your family. The thin blue line just got thinner because of you." Sue Absalom fondly recalled the late officer, describing him as "a truly lovely, caring guy with a cracking sense of humour," and added: "It was a pleasure to have Ian on my team in Tewkesbury a few years ago. An absolute loss to policing." Adam Williams, chair of Gloucestershire Police Federation, expressed the organisation's profound sorrow: "All at Gloucestershire Police Federation are devastated to hear of the on duty death of PC Ian Minett." He continued: "I was lucky enough to work with Ian and he was well liked amongst all that had the pleasure of working alongside him and getting to know him. It is a massive loss to the shift, the station, and to the Constabulary as a whole. "Our thoughts are with Ian's family, friends and close colleagues at this difficult time and we will support them as best we can." Article continues below

Gloucestershire officer in 'unexplained' death whilst on duty
A police officer has died under "unexplained" and "non-suspicious" circumstances whilst on Ian Minett from Gloucestershire Constabulary died whilst on duty on have said the coroner has been Chief Constable Katy Barrow-Grint said the constabulary has been "saddened" by the news and extends her "thoughts and prayers" to his family and friends.
