Fabian Edwards expects 'tougher road' to win out in Josh Silveira fight at PFL 7
Fabian Edwards feels he carries a different level of experience than his opponent, despite having the same amount of wins and loses in the sport. Edwards (14-4) returns to the cage against Josh Silveira (14-4) in the main event of 2025 PFL World Tournament 7, which takes place Friday at Wintrust Arena in Chicago. Even though they oddly have identical records entering their PFL middleweight semifinal, Edwards doesn't see Silveira on his same level. "When I was 5-0, I was fighting with people with records of 30 something wins and so many loses, he was fighting probably journeymen," Edwards told MMA Junkie Radio. "I was fighting world champions. So I feel like I've had a tougher road of opponents, and I feel like that's going to serve me well in this matchup, and that's it." There's no denying Edwards, brother of former UFC champion Leon Edwards, has fought more notable opposition. The Jamaican has shared the cage with fighters such as Johnny Eblen, Gegard Mousasi, and Lyoto Machida. Apart from the experience, both Edwards and Silveira are considered strikers, but even that he finds to be at different levels. Edwards expects Silveira to turn into a wrestler when the two clash on Friday. "This is going to be a classic striker vs. grappler, and that's it," Edwards said. "I know you say he likes to move forward, but once he feels the heat that I'm throwing at his head, and anywhere near him, he's going to go back to what he knows – which is try to grab me and bring the fight to that place. I feel like I've fought better wrestlers than him, better guys than him, and that's it."
