PITB signs MoU with PIASS under e-Rozgaar 2.0 initiative
LAHORE: The Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) on Friday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Pakistan Institute of Applied and Social Sciences (PIASS), Kasur, under the e-Rozgaar 2.0 initiative. This collaboration aims to establish e-Rozgaar 2.0 training centres at PIASS Kasur to equip the youth with modern digital freelancing skills for sustainable income and career development. PITB DG e-Governance Sajid Latif and PIASS Executive Director Shahzad Ahmad Bhatti signed the MoU in the presence of PITB Director Skills Development Wing Ahmad Islam Syan, PIASS Director Maryam Nazir and PIASS Director Muhammad Awais Nazir. The e-Rozgaar 2.0 is a flagship initiative by PITB focused on promoting freelancing, entrepreneurship, and digital empowerment through partnerships with public and private educational institutions across the province. In his message, PITB Chairman Faisal Yousaf said that empowering the youth with digital skills is the foundation of Pakistan's future. 'Through e-Rozgaar 2.0, we are building pathways to financial independence and global opportunity. ‘Digital cattle market' auctions conducted across Punjab
LAHORE: The Punjab Cattle Market Management and Development Company (PCMMDC), in collaboration with the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB), conducted digital cattle market auctions across Punjab from May 21 to May 23; this initiative resulted in a record-breaking revenue of Rs 15.35 billion over three days. According to PITB, this marks the first time in Punjab's history that 112 cattle markets held auctions exclusively through a digital system, receiving over 2,788 bids. The Multan division led in revenue generation, contributing Rs 2.63 billion, followed by Lahore and Bahawalpur divisions with Rs 2.04 billion and Rs 2.02 billion, respectively. This achievement aligns with Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz's vision to modernize governance, enhance transparency, and promote economic growth through digital transformation. Commenting on the success of the digital cattle auctions, PCMMDC Chairman Ibrahim Tariq Shafi stated that this unprecedented outcome reflects PCMMDC's commitment to reforming the cattle trade sector through digital innovation. 'From day one, our mission has been to eliminate inefficiencies, ensure full transparency, and optimize revenue collection. With the strong support of PITB and the adoption of advanced digital tools, we have achieved these goals on an unprecedented scale. We are dedicated to continuing this transformation across all cattle markets in Punjab to guarantee ease, fairness, and sustainable growth for all stakeholders,' he added. The auctions were executed using PITB's e-Auction System, a state-of-the-art platform that facilitated end-to-end digital auctioning. Seamless and secure payments were processed through PayZen, PITB's homegrown digital payment gateway, which ensured full transparency and real-time accountability in all transactions. PITB Chairman Faisal Yousaf, during a progress review meeting, praised the collaboration and its results. 'The implementation of our e-Auction System and PayZen Payment Gateway in cattle markets has not only enhanced transparency but also produced measurable impacts on governance and revenue collection. Over Rs800bn collected through e-Pay Punjab
LAHORE: The Punjab government has collected over Rs 800 billion in tax revenue through 'e-Pay Punjab', a flagship digital payment solution developed by the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) in collaboration with the Punjab Finance Department. This was highlighted during a progress review meeting presided over by PITB Chairman Faisal Yousaf here on Friday. Launched in October 2019, e-Pay Punjab has facilitated over 86 million online transactions, revolutionising how citizens pay government dues and taxes. The platform allows hassle-free payments for 87 different taxes or levies from 18 government departments, eliminating the need for physical visits and curbing reliance on middlemen and agent mafias. The meeting was further told that since its launch, e-Pay Punjab has generated substantial revenue across key tax streams, including over Rs 564 billion in Sales Tax, over Rs 39 billion in Property Tax, over Rs 35 billion in Token Tax and over Rs 19 billion through traffic challans. Over 5.8 million users have downloaded the e-Pay Punjab mobile app. Speaking on the occasion, PITB Chairman Faisal Yousaf said that e-Pay Punjab has not only empowered citizens with convenient, transparent payment options but also significantly strengthened the provincial treasury. 'We are continuously enhancing the platform by integrating more services to ensure safe, fast and user-friendly digital payments from the comfort of one's homes,' he added. PITB geo-tags 3,868 mineral reserves since Oct 2021
LAHORE: Since October 2021, the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB), in collaboration with the Punjab Mines and Minerals Department, has successfully geo-tagged over 3,868 mineral reserves using the Chief Inspectorate of Mines App. This emerged during a progress review meeting presided over by PITB Chairman Faisal Yousaf here on Monday. The Chief Inspectorate of Mines App, developed by PITB, enables digital inspection and oversight of mining sites across six different regions, with 2,416 inspections completed by 10 inspectors since August 2023. Additionally, the system facilitates the monitoring of emergency rescue equipment and allows for timely incident reporting, enhancing safety and compliance in Punjab's mining sector. On this occasion, PITB Chairman Faisal Yousaf stated, 'This digital solution streamlines mining operations and strengthens real-time monitoring of compliance, advancing the mining sector towards greater transparency and safety.' CERP, World Bank delegation visits PITB
LAHORE: A delegation from the Centre for Economic Research in Pakistan (CERP) and the World Bank visited the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) to discuss strategies for making the Punjab Job Center a more inclusive platform for women. The meeting focused on recent research findings related to gender inclusion in employment platforms and presented actionable recommendations to improve accessibility and outreach for women job seekers. The delegation included World Bank Economist Dr Katherine Vyborny, Consultant Aiman Farooq, CERP Associate Director Adil Saeed, and Senior Associate Government Relations Adil Aziz. Representing the Punjab Job Center were Director of Labour & Human Resources Department Imran Haider Tipu, PITB Director Incubation Hammad Khalique, and Senior Programme Manager Shams ul Islam. Speaking on the occasion, PITB Chairman Faisal Yousaf emphasized the importance of gender inclusivity in digital employment platforms: 'We are committed to making the Punjab Job Center a safe, accessible, and effective platform for women, enabling them to find suitable employment opportunities with ease. Through the Punjab Job Portal, we will also offer women-focused training, workshops, and mentorship sessions. This collaboration with the World Bank and CERP will further reinforce our vision.' The PITB is already implementing several initiatives targeted at youth and women. Programmes such as SheWins and e-Rozgaar 2.0 aim to empower women and young individuals as entrepreneurs and freelancers by providing incubation, skills development, and training opportunities.
