HR&CE minister inspects temples in Trichy
Trichy: Minister for Hindu religious and charitable endowments (HR&CE), P K Sekar Babu inspected the Arulmigu Jambukeswarar temple in Thiruvanaikoil and Arulmigu Samayapuram Mariamman temple on Wednesday. During his inspection, the minister reviewed the temple and directed authorities to initiate renovation in certain sections and expedite work. The minister also visited the temple's nandavanam (garden) and inspected the drainage system. He then reviewed the temple elephant Akila's bathing tank and cowshed. Speaking to reporters, the minister said, "Notice boards have been mandated to inform devotees about the golden chariot at the temple. Additionally, I have instructed the upkeep of the elephant shed, and minor repair works to improve facilities for devotees." Later in the day, the minister also inspected Samaypuram temple and inaugurated the lighting fixed to the gopuram.

Construction of Lord Muruga statue on Maruthamalai Hill to begin soon: Minister PK Sekar Babu
COIMBATORE: The construction of the proposed 184-foot-tall Lord Muruga Statue on Maruthamalai Hill will commence soon, stated HR&CE Minister PK Sekar Babu on Sunday. While speaking to media persons after inaugurating a slew of facilities at the at Arulmigu Patteeswara Swamy Temple in Perur on Sunday, the minister said, "The chief minister has given permission to erect the tallest Lord Murugan statue in Asia at the base of the Maruthamalai Temple. The works will start soon. Similarly, the work for establishing a polytechnic college at Vadavalli will commence soon after finding a location." The facilities opened at the Patteeswara Swamy Temple are an darpana mandapam, annadhana kodam (dining hall) and goshala (cow shelter). A cement road and a toilet for the temple staff were also unveiled. The darpana mandapam accommodates 50 persons at a time, the minister said. After the inauguration, the minister inspected the Maruthamalai Temple land to identify a suitable site for the statue. In all Rs 336 crore contributed by devotees were properly spent for temple purposes and 2,948 temples were renovated in the last four years by the government, he further stated. Meanwhile, more than 20,000 devotees participated an immersion ceremony at the Arulmiku Mariamman Temple in Thondamuthur in Coimbatore.

Minister inaugurates granite flooring work at Suchindram temple
Madurai: Hindu Religion and Charitable Endowment (HR&CE) minister P K Sekar Babu inaugurated granite flooring work at the renowned Thanumalai Swamy temple at Suchindram in Kanyakumari district on Sunday. The state govt has set aside Rs 1.29 crore to lay granite flooring and conduct minor maintenance works on the temple premises. Addressing reporters, Sekar Babu said the HR&CE department has taken up work to lay tiles in the temple hall at Rs 58 lakh. Through sponsors, it also began renovation work in the temple tower for Rs 14 lakh. The temple's rock structure is being washed, and Rs 45 lakh has allotted for maintenance work, he temple is one of the oldest temples in the region, dating back more than 1,000 years. The temple is important for both Shaivites and Vaishnavites. The temple premises cover more than two acres, with two entrances. The minister was accompanied by HR & CE commissioner P N Sridhar and Kanyakumari collector R Alagumeena.
