‘Use modern farming tech to achieve self-reliance'
Lucknow: Deputy chief minister
Keshav Prasad Maurya
emphasized the need to maximize the use of all agricultural land and said that comprehensive development in the sector is vital for India's progress.
Speaking at a seminar organized on
horticulture development
at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan in Lucknow, Maurya recognized the contributions of progressive farmers and retired officials to the state's horticultural sector.
Maurya stressed the importance of adopting
modern farming techniques
to fulfill the Prime Minister's vision of self-reliance, and announced plans to establish 1,000
food processing units
in every district under the PM Micro Food Industry Upgradation Scheme.
He called on farmers to integrate horticultural practices alongside traditional farming, highlighting the department's pivotal role in laying the foundation for a developed and self-reliant India.

State minister Dinesh Pratap Singh spoke about the department's achievements in promoting diverse horticultural crops and providing advanced training to farmers.
Earlier in the day, Singh also hoisted a 125-ft national flag at horticulture bhawan.
