Speaking at the event, Pradhan said, "Sambalpur is an agriculture-centric region. This modern Krushi Bhavan will give a new identity to Odisha's farm sector and support research and innovation. It's a gift to our annadatas (providers of food)." Pradhan also extended his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and CM Mohan Charan Majhi, stating that the double-engine govt is committed to ensuring no citizen is deprived of basic facilities. The Krushi Bhawan will house offices of the chief district agriculture officer, agricultural technology management agency, laboratories for soil testing, a conference hall, and training modules for farmers. It will act as a one-stop centre for all agri-related services. Under the 'Anna Abhinaya Yojana', four local women self-help groups received financial assistance of Rs 50,000 each to set up millet-based tiffin centres. These groups had earlier received training in millet food production and marketing, aimed at ensuring nutrition and generating rural income. Singh Deo said the initiative will strengthen grassroots-level farming. "The govt is working towards doubling farmers' incomes through integrated support and modern infrastructure," he added. Pradhan also noted that in the current year, over Rs 8,000 crore has been transferred to farmers in Odisha through paddy procurement and students of Classes 9 and 10 have now been included in the PM Poshan Scheme. On the occasion of Sheetala Shashti, the minister also planted a sapling as part of the 'Maa Paain Gachhatie' campaign.
