Horse racing tips: ‘Big eyecatcher over trip much too short' – Templegate's 10-3 NAP to suit stepping up
TEMPLEGATE'S TIPS Horse racing tips: 'Big eyecatcher over trip much too short' – Templegate's 10-3 NAP to suit stepping up TEMPLEGATE tackles Tuesday's racing confident of building the bank for another mega few days of action. Back a horse by clicking their odds below. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up EXPRESSIONLESS (3.18 Nottingham, nap) He was a big eyecatcher returning from six months off at Newbury 17 days ago. He was pitched into a ten-furlong contest – which is much too short – and predictably got outpaced before coming home like a train into third. That should have knocked any edges off him and stepping to a much more suitable 1m6f should see his head back in front at a track where he's scored before. POETIC FORCE (2.20 Brighton) Returns to his favourite track after a pipe-opener on the all-weather. He races off a much lower mark on the grass and saves his best for this trip. His rider takes off another 5lb and he'll go close for trainer Tony Carroll. UNDER THE TWILIGHT (3.53 Nottingham) She got shocking luck at Doncaster last time when blocked more than once before running into an excellent third. She wasn't running out of juice at the end of that 7f trip and will have no issues with this extra furlong. It won't take much more to score with David Probert taking over. CALAFRIO (2.08 Nottingham, Lucky 15) Deserves a pick after her neck second at Thirsk last time. She enjoyed the step up to this distance and looks open to plenty of improvement with that encouraging comeback under her belt. Newsboy's horseracing tips for Tuesday's three UK meetings, including Brighton Nap
Newsboy fancies his nap, Comedian Leader, to give connections reasons to smile at Brighton and also hopes Poetic Force can score on the same card and complete his Daily Double PUNTERS backing COMEDIAN LEADER (5.15, Nap) could have the last laugh at Brighton in the Call Star Sports on 08000 521 521 Handicap on Tuesday afternoon. The five-year-old, trained by Jim and Suzi Best, produced a career-best last time when landing a handicap over course and distance by a neck, from one of today's rivals Havana Mojito. Always going sweetly, the son of Aclaim made smooth headway from 3f out before keeping on well. Heer's Sadie, beaten six and a quarter lengths by my selection in that race, also reopposes. And Jim Crowley's mount is sure to be thereabouts again today. At Brighton, POETIC FORCE (2.20, nb) could be underestimated in the Star Sports Brighton Owners Series Apprentice Handicap. The Tony Carroll-trained son of Lope De Vega has raced a remarkable 108 times and, at aged 11, is the oldest by far in the field. But he still has something to offer. The gelding is more of a all-weather specialist but his Turf form is better at the Sussex track than anywhere else. He also looks to be on a fair handicap mark and is down in trip to a more suitable seven furlongs after finishing fifth, beaten just three lengths, at Wolverhampton last time over nine furlongs.
