The expressway, which originates near Jaitpur on NH-27 in Gorakhpur and connects to the Purvanchal Expressway at Salarpur in Azamgarh, promises to cut travel time and catalyse regional development, UPEIDA, said executive engineer PP Verma.
Spanning 91.35 km and built at a cost of Rs 7,283.28 crore, the expressway will directly benefit Gorakhpur, Sant Kabir Nagar, Ambedkar Nagar, and Azamgarh districts. It will reduce the Gorakhpur-Lucknow travel time to just three and a half hours via the Purvanchal Expressway, he said.
One of the priority infrastructure projects of the Yogi government, the expressway is expected to spur economic growth along its route by enhancing inter-district connectivity.
Additionally, plans are underway to develop an industrial corridor along the expressway, paving the way for increased investment in sectors like agriculture, commerce, tourism, and manufacturing. The route will also serve as a strategic logistics link, connecting production centres and farmlands in Eastern UP to national markets, including the NCR.
The Gorakhpur Link Expressway stands as a testament to the state's commitment to world-class infrastructure, energy efficiency through fuel savings, time conservation, and environmental sustainability.
