Moment Daniel Sturridge is interrupted by FIRE ALARM live on Sky Sports as MOTD host forced to reassure viewers

SKY SPORTS were forced to halt their usually scheduled programming after they were interrupted by a fire alarm live on air. The broadcaster was starting the days football coverage from the studio at Stamford Bridge before Chelsea 's clash with Liverpool this afternoon. 2 Presenter Kelly Cates was joined in the studio by Daniel Sturridge, Roy Keane and Jamie Redknapp. However, as former Chelsea and Liverpool ace Sturridge was making a point about ex-Blues strikers, he was interrupted by a loud siren. Cates stopped the 35-year-old in his tracks while the noise continued to blare in the background. She then addressed the source of the sound to the audience at home, revealing that the noise was a fire alarm test. Looking down the camera, she said: "We should just point out to people that we're not just sitting here blindly ignoring the fire alarm. "It's just a test, they've already announced that in case the microphones are picking those up." Chelsea test the alarm before every home game as part of their health and safety protocols. Cates, who has presented the Premier League since 2017 for the broadcaster was announced earlier this year as part of a three-person team who will be taking over presenting duties on Match of the Day from Gary Lineker. Lineker is in his final season for the show, making way for the trio of Cates, Mark Chapman and Gabby Logan to share presenting duties - the first time these have been shared in the show's 60-year history. In January, a Sky Sports show was forced to go off air as a result of a fire alarm. Arsenal boss Arteta shuts down reporter after being asked revealing question ahead of crucial PSG Champions League clash The broadcaster's NFL studio was evacuated during a clash between the Buffalo Bills and Baltimore Ravens. Sky Sports NFL host Neil Reynolds revealed he and colleagues were forced to exit their building during the match. That's because a fire alarm went off, leaving the channel unmanned as stadium clips were played instead. Reappearing on screen once the alarm had ended, Reynolds joked about the incident with colleagues. He said: 'We're not letting no fire alarm beat us! It's playoff football!' One guest quipped: 'Tried to get rid of us but we are back!' 'Turns out it was my voice all along!'
