KANAZAWA, Japan (Kyodo) -- Riku Masuda drove in two runs with a homer and a double to back a solid outing by Iori Yamasaki as the Yomiuri Giants beat the Hiroshima Carp 4-1 on Wednesday. Solo home runs by Masuda and Trey Cabbage turned a 1-0 deficit into a 2-1 Yomiuri lead in the bottom of the first inning. Masuda also made it 3-1 with an RBI double in a two-run seventh at Ishikawa Prefectural Stadium. Yamasaki (6-1) held the Carp to one run in 6-1/3 innings, striking out seven. Raidel Martinez picked up his 19th save. Daichi Osera (2-3) took the loss. Among Wednesday's other games, Ukyo Shuto hit a walk-off double to give the SoftBank Hawks a 2-1 win over the Pacific League-leading Nippon Ham Fighters. The Seibu Lions blanked the Rakuten Eagles 6-0.

TOKOROZAWA, Japan (Kyodo) -- Tatsuru Yanagimachi went 3-for-5 with five RBIs to back a dominant pitching performance by Livan Moinelo as the SoftBank Hawks beat the Seibu Lions 10-0 for their fifth straight victory Tuesday. Yanagimachi singled in the opening run in a four-run first inning. The 28-year-old outfielder also drove in two runs each in the fourth and fifth at Belluna Dome. Moinelo (3-0) allowed only one baserunner, a fourth-inning infield single by Natsuo Takizawa, over seven innings. The Cuban left-hander struck out six in an 84-pitch effort. Isami Nomura, filling SoftBank's leadoff spot in place of an injured Ukyo Shuto, had four hits and scored three times. Taiga Ueda (0-1) gave up 10 runs on 12 hits in five innings. The Seibu offense was limited to two hits. In other action, Kotaro Kiyomiya and Chusei Mannami homered and drove in five runs between them as the Nippon Ham Fighters beat the Pacific League-leading Orix Buffaloes 7-3. In the Central League, the DeNA BayStars blanked the Chunichi Dragons 3-0.

YOKOHAMA (Kyodo) -- Former major league pitcher Trevor Bauer threw the first complete-game shutout of his career in Japan as the DeNA BayStars edged the Yomiuri Giants 1-0 on Saturday. Bauer (2-3), the 2020 National League Cy Young Award winner with the Cincinnati Reds, struck out seven and scattered six hits, all singles, with two walks in a 122-pitch outing at Yokohama Stadium. The 34-year-old right-hander's batterymate Shion Matsuo broke a scoreless deadlock with an eighth-inning sacrifice fly after Keita Sano's one-out single put runners at the corners. Yomiuri reliever Yuhei Takanashi (0-1), who relieved Yuji Akahoshi to start the eighth, took the loss. The Central League-leading Giants saw their winning streak snapped at four games. Among Saturday's other games, the Seibu Lions beat the Nippon Ham Fighters 4-3 to extend their season-high winning streak to six games, while the Pacific League-leading Orix Buffaloes routed the Rakuten Eagles 7-0 for their third straight victory.

The backup catcher's one-out single to left off Hanshin closer Suguru Iwazaki (0-1) scored Trey Cabbage from third base at Koshien Stadium. The Central League-leading Tigers had a runner on third with one out in the bottom of the ninth, but Kai Ueda was thrown out at home by shortstop Yuta Izuguchi while trying to score on pinch-hitter Ryo Watanabe's grounder. Yomiuri closer Raidel Martinez then got Koji Chikamoto to ground out for the final out and picked up his eighth save. Taisei Ota (2-0) threw a perfect eighth. In other action, former major league pitcher Trevor Bauer (1-3) struck out 10 in eight innings of one-run ball as the DeNA BayStars edged the Hiroshima Carp 2-1. Sumida (4-0) struck out 11 over seven innings, scattering seven hits, all singles, with a walk in a 114-pitch outing at Belluna Dome. The Lions ended their losing streak at four games. Hasegawa belted his first home run of the season in the fourth inning off Anderson Espinoza (0-1). Kaima Taira pitched a 1-2-3 ninth for his fifth save. The Pacific League-leading Buffaloes suffered a shutout loss for the third time this season. Among Saturday's other games, the Central League-leading Hanshin Tigers extended their winning streak to six with a 6-2 victory over the Yomiuri Giants. The Chunichi Dragons downed the Yakult Swallows 5-2 for their first win in four games.
