Kylie Minogue had 'no words' after thousands of fans interrupted her London show

Aussie pop queen Kylie Minogue was in a state of complete shock during her London concert as a crowd of 20,000 brought it to a sudden standstill for a heartwarming reason Kylie Minogue was left in a state of shock after tens of thousands of fans interrupted her barnstorming London concert this week. The Aussie pop queen has been touring the globe since February promoting her album Tension and on May 26 and 27, she brought her glitzy party to the capital. So far this year, Kylie has performed in her homeland, Thailand, Japan, Taiwan and North America before coming to the UK and all her shows have been well received. But by the time she landed in London, nothing could prepare her for the feverish behaviour that gripped the 20,000-strong crowd inside the O2 Arena. ‌ As she was performing a medley of her hits old and new, the Padam Padam pop titan was brought to tears when the crowd and her backing singers stopped the show – for a surprising reason. Out of the blue, everybody sang 'Happy Birthday' to Kylie in honour of her turning 57 years young on May 28 – the day after her last London show. ‌ A video posted on her social media account showed the pop legend, wearing a shimmering black dress and thigh high boots, touching her chest and smiling with amazement at her fans – some of whom travelled from as far as Taiwan and Brazil – stopping the show and paying tribute especially for her. Towards the end of the clip, Kylie's emotions got the better of her and she could not help but shed a tear or two. Shortly afterwards, she revealed her feelings in a caption on her video: "No words…" – proving that she can't get the tender moment out of her head. ‌ The video has been watched more than 44,000 times since going live and has already been flooded with birthday tributes from her adoring followers. One of the fans who serenaded Kylie at the O2 said: "I was there last night with friend, it was amazing night!" while another fan posted: "I was there – you were fantastic." A third fan who also sang 'Happy Birthday' to her recalled: "Cannot believe I finally got to see her live and also sing Happy Birthday to her." ‌ A fourth fan promised the pop queen a surprise for when she performs her next show by saying: "HBD bestie. Party in Glasgow next Friday for you." This was not the only TikTok tribute for the superstar as the O2 also posted a video a day before her actual birthday to celebrate her "Aussie birthday". In a video captioned "We hope you had the best birthday queen," Kylie was seeing rehearsing for her concert inside the venue before her crew brought in a cake and sang "Aussie birthday to you" to the tune of 'Happy Birthday'. Kylie spun around, mic in hand, in excitement and even stopped to check if her birthday candles were real by asking "Are these trick candles or can I blow them out?" As for her birthday wish, she revealed: "My wish is this show. Don't make me cry! Thank you for your hard work!" London fans won't have to wait long to see Kylie do the loco-motion back in the capital as she returns to perform two more shows at the O2 on June 2 and 3. In addition, she will play Nottingham's Motorpoint Arena on May 30, Birmingham's BP Pulse Live on May 31 and June 5, before concluding the UK leg of her tour at Glasgow's OVO Hydro on June 6.

She's right. It's been just over two years since she released Padam Padam — a track which has revived her career to levels reminiscent of 2001 megahit Can't Get You Out Of My Head. Not that she was struggling, because all her new studio albums since 2010's Aphrodite have hit No1 or No2 in the UK charts. But Padam and its accompanying Tension album allowed Kylie to finally crack America and was playlisted on Radio 1, despite the station's infamous reputation for snubbing women over 30. 'Mystical time' Kicking things off in style at the O2, the On A Night Like This singer descended from the heavens, head to toe in blue latex, to her latest single, aptly titled Lights Camera Action. From then on, it was a non-stop journey though hit after hit, with not a single rest. It's hard to forget just how many top tracks Kylie has had — with 35 UK Top Ten singles and seven No1s to her name. And, as she turns 57 today, she has no plans to slow down. Kylie said of performing: 'My love for doing this only grows and grows. 'Thank you for understanding and being there for me on my journey. For me, it began in a mystical time known as the Eighties.' Tension is Kylie's 16th headline tour and her first global trek since 2018's Golden. She played 33 gigs then, but this time that has more than doubled to 69. Kylie Minogue opens up about life, love and staying grounded as she releases Tension II She is in the middle of a run of 14 UK arena shows, but agreed to meet Bizarre's Jack backstage following one of her four O2 concerts. When she emerges smiling from her dressing room, she is proudly sporting her Tension Tour merch. It's a world away from the latex look she wore to launch her two-hour set. 'Did it look OK? It was the first time I wore that one,' she quickly asks. 'Worth the wait' It goes without saying that she looks amazing, although I remark on how it must be a seriously hot outfit to wear in a packed arena. But is Kylie ever tempted to watch her performances back online? She replied: 'I don't watch it on YouTube, but I do see it on socials and that way, sometimes with a phone, the angle is weird or the colours are off, but it gives you another perspective.' When I flag to her that currently, every one of her UK shows has received five-star reviews, she beams in amazement — clearly pinching herself that she is once again in her prime. She said: 'On tour, it's like you're in a time zone where you lose track of time. 'This time tomorrow, half of the O2 shows will be done.' Reflecting on Monday evening's opener, she said: 'Tonight was amazing, it was huge. 'Sometimes, that can play with my ears if it's so loud, but it was amazing.' Speaking on stage, Kylie told exhilarated fans: 'You know I try to prepare myself, but I never can. This is insane. 'Thank you so much to each and every one of you for coming out tonight.' The star's run of shows at The O2 have made her the first female artist to join the venue's 21 Club, which honours acts who have played the arena 21 times or more. Only a handful have ever achieved the feat. The late pop legend Prince became the very first to celebrate the honour when he played a residency there in 2007. Others featured in a backstage hall of fame — which Kylie will be added to once her London shows end next month — include Take That and Drake. It may be seven years since her last arena tour, but it was certainly worth the wait.
