Sioux City PD honoring National Crime Victims' Rights Week
SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) – Since 1981, National Crime Victims' Rights Week has challenged the nation to confront and remove barriers to achieving justice for all victims of crime. Once again, the Sioux City Police Department is hosting events associated with the observance. The week is to commemorate and recognize victims impacted by various crimes around Siouxland, and most importantly, providing them with the resources they need. There are many assets in Siouxland that victims can take advantage of, whether for property damage or for when a person has been physically harmed. Sioux City appoints interim city manager after Padmore's retirement 'We as a community, just think about what it means to be a victim of a crime,' police lieutenant Jeremy McClure said. 'And as I mentioned, many of us have been victims of crime, so we know that feeling of being violated. And, you know, whether it's losing property or having it damaged or having somebody physically violate us. And it's just important that we as a community understand that and come together and show support for those victims.' On April 8, the police department will hold a town hall at the Sioux City Public Museum, and on April 10, a community resource fair at Western Iowa Tech Community College. A list of resources has also been posted in the Woodbury County Courthouse in the lobby. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
