Arsenal need goals and see Igor Paixão as an affordable alternative

Arsenal need goals and see Igor Paixão as an affordable alternative Arsenal have added Igor Paixão to their list of potential transfer targets for this summer, The Times reports. The Feyenoord winger is said to be an alternative to the 'expensive' Nico Williams and Leroy Sané. According to the English paper, Mikel Arteta has prioritised strengthening his attack after Arsenal were forced to settle for a third consecutive second-place finish in the Premier League. The team scored 69 goals, 22 fewer than the previous season. Advertisement Paixão joins Aston Villa's Morgan Rogers on the Gunners' wishlist. Rogers seems to have a slight advantage over Paixão. 'Arteta likes versatile players and prefers to sign players with Premier League experience. The 24-year-old Paixão would be a cheaper option than Rogers.' Paixão has been under contract with Feyenoord since the summer of 2022. In Rotterdam-Zuid, the Brazilian has made 129 appearances so far, in which he has scored 39 goals and provided 29 assists. With this, Paixão has caught the attention of clubs from Europe. Olympique Marseille are said to have offered around 20 million euros, although Feyenoord were quick to turn that down. Liverpool Told to Sign ‘Exceptional' £42m Forward This Summer

In an age where the Premier League's pace and competitiveness demand constant innovation and forward-thinking, Liverpool find themselves at yet another strategic crossroad. With suggestions bubbling to the surface about a potential game-changing acquisition, the spotlight turns to Igor Paixão, the Brazilian winger whose recent performances have ignited discussions about his fit at Anfield. Igor Paixão, currently turning heads with his exceptional displays for Feyenoord, has been recommended as a more potent option than Liverpool's current winger, Cody Gakpo. According to insights from Ben Jacobs for Paixão's remarkable ability to outmanoeuvre defenders, including a notable performance against Kyle Walker, makes him a hot prospect for Liverpool. His stats are indeed compelling, with 11 goals and 15 assists this season across all competitions. While Gakpo has been a stalwart for Liverpool since his move from PSV, boasting 39 goals and 14 assists over his tenure, the argument for Paixão's inclusion stems from a desire to elevate Liverpool's attacking dynamism. Rob Jacobs, a former Feyenoord manager, weighed in on the debate, stating unequivocally that Paixão's addition would strengthen Liverpool's squad, suggesting a bold move by Arne Slot, Liverpool's manager, to secure the Brazilian's services. The discussion around Paixão isn't just about his on-field prowess but also aligns with Liverpool's strategic aims under Arne Slot's stewardship. Slot, known for his keen eye for talent and developmental acumen, could find in Paixão the perfect blend of youth, skill, and potential. Financially, a €50 million bid (£42 million) is proposed, a figure that, while substantial, is within the realms of possibility for a club of Liverpool's stature and ambition. Paixão's potential arrival at Anfield could not only offer an immediate upgrade on the wing but also introduce a different style of play that might better complement Slot's tactical setup. His agility and knack for creating scoring opportunities make him an exciting prospect for Liverpool's fluid and attacking football philosophy. The prospect of Igor Paixão swapping Feyenoord for Liverpool is an exhilarating one. His recent display against a seasoned defender like Kyle Walker is a testament to his ability to compete at the highest level. Liverpool, while rich in history and talent, must continually evolve to challenge for top honours both domestically and in Europe. Paixão represents not just a replacement for Gakpo, should he move on, but a statement of intent from Liverpool to stay at the forefront of footballing excellence. Moreover, with Arne Slot at the helm, known for getting the best out of his players, Paixão's development could be meteoric. The Brazilian's flair, combined with Slot's tactical acumen, could usher in a new era of dominance at Anfield. As supporters, we should be excited about this potential transfer. It speaks volumes about the club's ambition and the direction under Slot's leadership. Adding a player of Paixão's calibre could very well be the catalyst needed as Liverpool continues to build on its storied legacy in pursuit of future glory.

Paixão helps Feyenoord fans forget Giménez as Dutch team tops AC Milan

ROTTERDAM, Netherlands (AP) — Igor Paixão helped Feyenoord fans to forget Santiago Giménez by scoring the only goal in a 1-0 victory over AC Milan in the first leg of their Champions League playoff on Wednesday. Giménez lined up on the other side for Milan after transferring from Feyenoord on the final day of the winter transfer window for a reported 30 million euros ($31 million) plus bonuses. He was expected to be sorely missed having scored five goals in the group stage. Instead, he was upstaged all night by the livewire Paixão. The Brazilian striker scored from the edge of the penalty area in the third minute following an error from goalkeeper Mike Maignan. It was his second goal in the competition and eighth of the season overall. Paixão almost scored a superb goal in the 37th when he hit the crossbar with a dipping shot that beat Maignan. He gave veteran England right back Kyle Walker a torrid time in the first half on Walker's Champions League debut for Milan after joining from Manchester City. Paixão took down a high ball expertly and beat Walker for skill on the left flank, and United States winger Christian Pulisic even had to drop back to help the 34-year-old Walker out at one point. Paixão was relishing his moment in the spotlight, and defender Theo Hernandez appeared to get away with a clear foul when blocking his run in first-half stoppage time. Paixão even tried an audacious lob from the halfway line with 20 minutes left, and got the crowd going throughout by turning and toward them and urging more support. By contrast, Giménez was ineffective and hit thin air with an attempted bicycle kick in the second half. As he stood up, one of Feyenoord's defenders gave him a gentle reminder of his former club by nudging into him. Pascal Bosschaart got the ideal start as interim Feyenoord coach, just two days after taking charge following the sacking of Brian Priske. Bosschaart was as a defender for Feyenoord from 2004-06. ___ AP soccer: The Associated Press
