Donald Trump Says India Willing To Cut 100% Tariff On US Imports: 'But No Hurry To...'
US President Donald Trump highlighted India as a country where he intends to lower trade barriers for US exports US President Donald Trump on Friday said that India has proposed eliminating all tariffs on American goods, noting that he is in no hurry to finalise a trade deal with New Delhi. Trump highlighted India as a country where he intends to lower trade barriers for US exports during an interview with Fox News. 'They make it almost impossible to do business. Do you know they're willing to cut 100% of their tariffs for the United States?" Trump said. When questioned about the timeline for the deal, he replied, 'That'll come soon. I'm in no rush. Look, everybody wants to make a deal with us." He further noted that he doesn't intend to 'make deals with everybody." According to reports, significant attention is on the forthcoming trade discussions between Washington and New Delhi. A delegation from India, headed by Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, is set to engage with US officials to work toward a bilateral trade agreement (BTA). advetisement Over the course of the four-day negotiations, Goyal is anticipated to hold meetings with US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick. Trump's Claim In Doha While addressing the business leaders during his Doha visit, Trump said the same thing, claiming that India has offered to eliminate all tariffs on American imports. 'India has offered us a deal where basically they are willing to literally charge us no tariff." However, in response to Trump's assertion that India has proposed a trade deal with 'literally zero tariffs," External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar stated on Thursday that the negotiations are still ongoing, complex, and far from being finalised. 'Between India and the US, trade talks have been going on. These are complicated negotiations. Nothing is decided till everything is. Any trade deal has to be mutually beneficial; it has to work for both countries. That would be our expectation from the trade deal. Until that is done, any judgment on it would be premature," Jaishankar said. These remarks come as the Trump team looks to overhaul global trade dynamics. Earlier on Friday, Trump announced plans to introduce new import duty rates for US trading partners 'over the next two to three weeks." Watch India Pakistan Breaking News on CNN-News18. PM Modi's Visit Revealed Adampur Truth, Pak Should Seek Answers From Its Army: Sources
Last Updated: 'PM Modi's visit to Adampur confirms that Pakistan army fought on fake narrative and fooled the world," say government sources Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the Adampur airbase in Punjab, which proved Pakistan's claims of destroying the facility were false, is a wake-up call for Islamabad, said government sources. 'Modi's visit to Adampur confirms that Pakistan army fought on fake narrative and fooled the world. The Pakistan Army, led by General Asim Munir, propagated fabricated videos and images of Adampur's destruction to project a false narrative of military success," said sources. PM Modi's visit to the Adampur airbase is a strategic rebuttal to Pakistan's claims of inflicting heavy damage on the facility. 'Modi's photos and videos at Adampur showcased the intact S-400 air defence system and MiG-29 fighter jets. This directly contradicts Pakistan's assertions that these assets were destroyed by hypersonic missiles," said sources. Satellite imagery from third parties, such as China's Mizar Vision, had also confirmed that no structural damage was caused to the airbase. Earlier this morning, I went to AFS Adampur and met our brave air warriors and soldiers. It was a very special experience to be with those who epitomise courage, determination and fearlessness. India is eternally grateful to our armed forces for everything they do for our nation. — Narendra Modi (@narendramodi) May 13, 2025 'Modi's Adampur visit was not merely a morale booster for Indian forces, but a calculated exposure of Pakistan's disinformation tactics. The contrast between Pakistan's claims and ground realities validated by Modi's visit and international imagery reveals systemic deception. This undermines public trust in military leadership and state institutions," said sources. 'For Pakistanis, this episode tells the urgency to critically evaluate their military's narratives. Pakistanis should push for accountability," said sources. The Pakistan Army is dependent on psychological manipulation, rather than credible military outcomes. 'This could isolate Pakistan both regionally and globally. The locals must question the military's non-transparent operations and demand transparency," said sources. Sources said, 'The Army's repeated failures can now be seen. It is clear the Pakistan failed to inflict meaningful damage on India despite nuclear posturing. The general who was hiding in bunkers fooled his people, government and territorial army who worked for his wrongdoings. The public of Pakistan should demand answers." Why Banks, Employers Demand A Cancelled Cheque For PF And Loans
Last Updated: While a cancelled cheque cannot be used to withdraw money, it is valuable for one key reason: it proves that the account exists and provides verified details. In an age where digital payments dominate and UPI apps are just a tap away, an old-fashioned piece of paper continues to play a surprisingly pivotal role in the country's financial landscape – a cancelled cheque. Though it can no longer be used to pay anyone, this simple cheque marked with the word 'CANCELLED" remains indispensable in multiple official and banking processes, from salary account openings to mutual fund investments and even insurance claims. So, what makes this inoperative cheque so important? And why do banks or financial institutions continue to demand it? A cancelled cheque is essentially a regular bank cheque on which the word 'CANCELLED" is written across in bold letters, usually diagonally. No signature is needed. While this cheque cannot be used to withdraw money, it is valuable for one key reason: it proves that the account exists and provides verified details such as the account number, IFSC code, MICR code, branch name, and the account holder's identity. This verification acts as a safeguard for both banks and customers, ensuring that money lands in the right account and not somewhere else due to a clerical mistake. Where Is A Cancelled Cheque Used? A cancelled cheque is a frequent requirement in various financial and official dealings: Despite not involving any financial transaction, the cheque becomes a sort of trust anchor in an ecosystem increasingly vulnerable to cyber fraud and input errors. The primary aim of requesting a cancelled cheque is to eliminate room for error during money transfers. For example, during a SIP setup, banks need to confirm the accuracy of the IFSC code and account number. A cancelled cheque, being an official bank document, confirms this data precisely. This practice helps minimise the chances of wrong crediting – a risk that can have significant consequences, especially in the case of large transactions or long-term investments. Even though it can't be used to withdraw funds, a cancelled cheque isn't harmless. It contains sensitive banking information, so handing it over recklessly can be risky. Here are some essential precautions: In conclusion, the cancelled cheque might seem outdated in our digitised era, but its function is far from redundant.
