'#FantasticTea': Shahid Afridi replies to Shikhar Dhawan's 'Kargil mein bhi haraya tha' remark

Shikhar Dhawan and Shahid Afridi (X photo) NEW DELHI: Shahid Afridi has responded to former Team India batter Shikhar Dhawan 's sharp criticism with a sarcastic offer and a viral hashtag. 'Chhodo jeet-haar ki baatein, aao tumhe chai pilata hoon Shikhar. #FantasticTea (Forget winning or losing, Shikhar, come over for some tea. #FantasticTea),' the ex-Pakistan captain tweeted on Tuesday, stirring fresh controversy across social media. The comment came after Dhawan slammed Afridi for blaming the Indian Army for the recent Pahalgam terror attack , which claimed 26 lives. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. Speaking on Pakistani TV, Afridi questioned how such an attack could happen despite India's heavy military presence in Kashmir, saying, 'You have 800,000 soldiers there and still this happens? That means you're failing.' Afridi also criticised the Indian media's coverage, calling it over-the-top and theatrical: 'Within an hour, their media turns into Bollywood. It's laughable.' These remarks didn't sit well with Dhawan, who hit back strongly on X (formerly Twitter): 'We beat you in Kargil too. How much lower will you fall? Instead of making baseless comments, try working on your own country's progress. We are proud of our Indian Army. Jai Hind!' Afridi's '#FantasticTea' remark may seem casual, but it carries weight. It references the famous 2019 moment when captured Indian Air Force pilot Abhinandan Varthaman calmly sipped tea while in Pakistani custody and said, 'The tea is fantastic.' That line became symbolic of Indian grit and composure under pressure. By bringing it up now, Afridi has reignited old tensions and crossed into sensitive territory, as many in India see the phrase as more than just a joke.

Want to share screen with Mahira Khan, upcoming Pakistani actor Khaqan Shahnawaz says

ISLAMABAD: Upcoming actor and Internet personality Khaqan Shahnawaz has said he is a fan of Mahira Khan, one of the most popular and highest-paid actresses in Pakistan, and looked forward to sharing the screen with her in the future. Shahnawaz, a law graduate who is in his late twenties, gained fame with dramas like 'Accident,' 'Barhwaan Khiladi,' 'Yunhi' and 'College Gate.' He most recently played the role of a Pashtun boy in the drama series, 'My Dear Cinderella,' which started airing on Hum TV during Ramadan and concluded with its final episode over the Eid holiday. 'Who wouldn't want to? I still want to share the screen with Mahira Khan and be in her presence,' he told Independent Urdu in an interview last week. 'Mahira Khan is a star and I have always been a fan of hers, still am.' Shahnawaz recalled catching a glimpse of Khan from a distance at a wedding but unfortunately wasn't able to meet her. 'I couldn't meet her because she came for a very short time,' he said. 'But I saw her from a distance and I said, 'That's a star,' because she had an aura when she was walking.' When asked about future projects and if would like to work in an action project, Shahnawaz said action was not a preferred genre on Pakistani TV, long known for romantic comedies and family dramas. 'I think we don't make that many dramas that fall under the action genre but definitely, if I had the option to choose between an action drama or a romantic comedy, it would have been a tough decision,' the actor said. 'But right now I had the option of a family tragedy or a romantic comedy and I went for the romantic comedy [My Dear Cinderella] because the character was very different from my real life character so I thought I should experiment and I should check if I can step into this character.' Shahnawaz, who rose to fame as a social media star, said he still identified largely as a content creator. 'If you look at my Instagram profile or TikTok profile, I have uploaded content recently and I keep posting regularly,' he said. 'My entry into acting was a lot easier because of content creation, I will say this.'

American woman in Pakistan baffles internet as she refuses to leave after planned marriage to teenager fell apart

A New York woman has become an unlikely viral hit after her trip to Pakistan to marry a teenager she met online turned into a series of bizarre exploits as she refused to leave the country, demanded thousands of dollars and claimed she wanted to 'rebuild' the nation. Onijah Andrew Robinson, 32, traveled to Karachi in October 2024 to meet and marry Nidal Ahmed Memon – a 19-year-old Pakistani man. But upon arrival, Memon rejected her and said his family was opposed to the marriage – leaving her 'stranded' for several days in Karachi as her tourist visa expired, she claims. It was reported that money was raised for her to return home but she refused. Now, she has taken social media by storm with her wild tale, becoming a sensation on TikTok. After facing the rejection from her alleged lover, Robinson had nowhere to go, so began wandering around Karachi. She lingered around Mamon's home for a while but found that the entire family had vacated and locked up the house. Meanwhile, a man claiming to be her son and giving his name as Jeremiah Robinson, gave an interview to Pakistani TV where he said his mother suffers from a 'mental bipolar disorder,' and said the marriage to Memon never occurred. 'I'm trying to help her as her son to come back to the U.S. She was only supposed to go to Pakistan to meet him and his family', he states in the clip. It was not clear that he was her son or how old he is. Robinson spoke at a press conference in Pakistan, where she said: 'I'm asking for 100K or more. I need 20K by this week, in my pockets, in cash. That's a demand to the government.' At first, it appeared she was asking for the money so that she could stay and start a life in Pakistan. But amid the flurry of thousands of videos, it was unclear as to who she was demanding the money from, and for what purpose. In several clips, she is heardexpressing her desire to improve vital services in Pakistan such as infrastructure and local bus services. In another, she is captured asking for 'two thousand or more every week', 'more than five thousand dollars in USD', 'I want 20K up front, 5K-10K to stay here every week, and I want those demands from the government right away', according to the spate of videos in circulation on TikTok. At one stage, she announced she had plans to travel with Memon to Dubai and was planning on starting a family – despite being rejected – stating: 'Make sure you get this on your camera, I'm married to Nidal Ahmed Memon, we are moving to Dubai very soon. We're going to have our baby in Dubai.' When probed further on her declaration, she refused to explain any further, stating it was against her religion to 'tell you my business'. According to News18, she received an offer of help from a non-governmental organization in Pakistan – though it was not immediately clear who – which offered to pay for her return ticket to the U.S., an offer she is said to have turned down. Robinson had a brush with the law in 2021, when she was arrested and faced charges for entering a premises post warning, according to Charleston County, South Carolina, court records. The Independent has contacted Robinson and the U.S. Consulate General in Karachi for comment.
