The Future of Global Priorities: Technology Over Humanity
by Irshad Ahmad Mughal When I was a young trainee as a community development worker, I was told:"Never lose sight of the forest by counting individual trees."This lesson taught me to adopt a holistic perspectivea mindset that now helps me analyze the evolving world order. In the post-Trump era, we witness a new global structure taking shape, defined by emerging alliances, shifting power dynamics, and transformed economic strategies. While Latin America remains relatively stable (with exceptions like Mexico and Panama), turbulence grips the Middle East, Europe, and South Asia. Three major powers are maneuvering to assert dominance in this geopolitical arena, much like players in a high-stakes contest. President Trump shook the world with his tariff policies, attempting to strongarm even traditional allies like Canada and Europe through threats and restrictions. Though he faced resistanceforcing tactical retreats and strategic pivotshe secured significant economic gains from wealthy Gulf states. However, he failed to deliver on his campaign promise of halting the Russia-Ukraine war. His sole diplomatic "win" was brokering a fragile ceasefire between India and Pakistan, a face-saving gesture amid broader setbacks. The Indo-Pakistan conflict unveiled a new era of aerial warfare, reshaping perceptions of military superiority. Pakistans Air Force claimed to have downed Indias "undefeated" Rafale jets using Chinese-made J-10 fighters, sparking debates about Eastern vs. Western technological hegemony. This incident bolstered Chinese and Pakistani confidence while denting Indias global standing. Today, clashes between global powers are intensifying. A new world order is emerging, and with it, a new kind of warfare. Ground forces are becoming obsolete; future conflicts will be decided in the skiesa paradigm shift with far-reaching implications. The emerging world order suggests an unpredictable future where traditional humanitarian concernsliberty, democracy, and equalityare sidelined on the global stage. Instead, international forums now prioritize tariffs, trade wars, drone warfare, artificial intelligence, data dominance, and technological supremacy. Current conflicts and ceasefires foreshadow a grim reality: the battles of tomorrow will not be fought by soldiers on the ground but waged through aerial combat, cyber warfare, and autonomous systems. Human lives may no longer be the primary casualty, but humanity itself risks becoming collateral damage in this new era. As technology races to the forefront of geopolitical strategy, foundational human values are being deprioritized. The question we must confront is this: In a world where algorithms dictate power and machines decide outcomes, what happens to the human condition? Court Raps Delhi Police For 'Lackadaisical' Probe Into Kapil Mishra's 2020 'Communal' Remarks
Last Updated: The court noted that police had made no serious effort to gather Mishra's social media evidence despite repeated orders since March last year A Delhi court on Monday criticised the city police for its 'lackadaisical approach" in investigating a case against BJP leader and Delhi Development Minister Kapil Mishra over alleged inflammatory statements made ahead of the 2020 Delhi Assembly elections. Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM) Vaibhav Chaurasia, of the Rouse Avenue Courts, noted that despite repeated court orders since March last year, there had been no serious attempt by the police to collect evidence related to Mishra's social media activity — especially his X (formerly Twitter) posts. 'No one is present on behalf of the investigating agency to follow up the directions of further investigation and before any stringent remarks could be made upon the casual attitude of the investigating agency qua the directions of this Court, this Court is constrained to bring it to the notice of Worthy Commissioner of Police, Delhi Police, with respect to the state of affairs and non-adequate explanation on the part of the Investigating Agency," said ACJM Chaurasia while delivering the ruling on Monday, Live Law reported. 'Without fail, the diligent endeavour was made by this Court vide order-sheets dated 20.03.2024, 20.04.2024, 10.05.2024, 15.05.2024, 01.06.2024, 01.07.2024, 11.07.2024, 22.07.2024, 20.03.2025, 08.04.2025 for the collection of evidence qua Twitter handle of the accused, but in vain," the judge added. The FIR against Mishra was filed under Section 125 of the Representation of the People Act (RPA), which relates to promoting enmity between classes during an election. It stemmed from his 2020 remarks broadcast in the media, including phrases such as 'mini Pakistans in Delhi" and 'Pakistan has entered Shaheen Bagh". Mishra also posted on social media that the 2020 Delhi election would be an 'India vs Pakistan" battle on the city's streets. The judge said the matter had been pending since March last year and took serious note of the investigating agency's failure to act on the court's instructions. The court has now directed that a copy of the order be sent to the Commissioner and Joint Commissioner of Delhi Police to take appropriate action. 'If the police are unable to investigate the matter or face any obstacles, this must be reported to the Court," ACJM Chaurasia stated. The matter is now scheduled to be heard again on 7 July. ‘Lackadaisical approach': court pulls up Delhi Police over ‘inadequate' probe into Law Minister Kapil Mishra's 2020 post
A court Monday pulled up the Delhi Police for an 'inadequate' investigation in a case lodged against Law and Justice Minister and BJP leader Kapil Mishra under the Representation of the People Act (RPA), accusing him of promoting communal enmity. The case, lodged under Section 125 (promoting enmity between classes in connection with election) of the RPA, pertains to allegations that Mishra made objectionable statements in the electronic media in 2020, like 'Delhi mein chhote chhote Pakistan bane (there are mini Pakistans in Delhi)' and 'Shaheen Bagh mein Pak ki entry (Pakistan has entered Shaheen Bagh)'. The case also pertained to a social media post by Mishra that there will be an 'India vs Pakistan' contest on the 'streets of Delhi' on February 8, the day of the elections in 2020. 'No one is present on behalf of the investigating agency to follow up the directions of further investigation and before any stringent remarks could be made upon the casual attitude of the investigating agency qua the directions of this Court, this Court is constrained to bring it to the notice of Worthy Commissioner of Police, Delhi Police, with respect to the state of affairs and non-adequate explanation on the part of the Investigating Agency,' said Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Vaibhav Chaurasia in his order dated May 26. 'Without fail, the diligent endeavour was made by this Court vide order-sheets dated 20.03.2024, 20.04.2024, 10.05.2024, 15.05.2024, 01.06.2024, 01.07.2024, 11.07.2024, 22.07.2024, 20.03.2025, 08.04.2025 for the collection of evidence qua Twitter handle of the accused, but in vain,' ACJM Chaurasia said and added that the Delhi Police had shown a 'lackadaisical approach'. Senior Advocate Pavan Narang, who appeared for Mishra, said, 'INC and AAP propagate that they are secular in nature. My party also has secular credentials. What I'm trying to show, that under the garb of secular character, these parties are trying to promote religion-specific agendas. I've a right to place that before the public. The prosecution has no legally admissible documents or evidence'. While referring to the posts which hadn't been procured by the Delhi Police yet, the judge said, 'The agency has to at least procure the essential material which must be part of the investigation'. 'The accused has not said anything about any community based on its religion…The only thing he has alleged is that the two political parties (Congress and Aam Aadmi Party) are trying to create mini-Pakistans like Shaheen Bagh,' argued Narang. 'He is talking about the policies and ideologies of AAP and Congress, and he is not pitting two religious groups against one another,' he added. Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Vaibhav Chaurasia said the copy of the order has to be sent to Worthy Joint Commissioner, Northern Range, 'to do the needful as already his Worthy office was well-acquainted with the state of affairs on 20.03.2025'. Arguments on the charge will now be heard in this case on July 7.
