World's oldest horticultural society to host spring showcase in York village
AN ANCIENT society will be holding its annual show this weekend in York.
The Ancient Society of York Florists will be holding its Spring Show at Wigginton Recreation Hall on Saturday April 19.
The society is the oldest horticultural society in the world, having been formed 257 years ago, and includes classes for daffodils, tulips, auriculas, primulas, potted plants, floral themed art, baking, handicrafts and photography.
There is a total of 122 different awards with highlights including the Daffodil Society Bronze Medal, the Leo Dixon Trophy for Auriculas, and the Pamela Inns Memorial Trophy for floral art.
