Mayra Bueno Silva's return to bantamweight is booked.
The former UFC title challenger is scheduled to take on Joselyne Edwards at a UFC Fight Night event on Aug. 9 at UFC Apex in Las Vegas. MMA Junkie confirmed the news with sources following a report by AG Fight on Sunday.
Bueno Silva (10-5-1 MMA, 5-5-1 UFC), who fought for the vacant UFC women's bantamweight belt in January 2024, is coming back to the division in which she competed for gold after coming up short against Jasmine Jasudavicius in a move down to flyweight in February. She's looking to bounce back from a winless four-fight run in which she lost three bouts and had a win over Holly Holm overturned to a no contest due to a positive test for a prohibited AD/HD.
Edwards (15-6 MMA, 6-4 UFC) is arguably in her best career moment and will look to stretch that come fight night. The Panamenian fighter is coming off back-to-back finishes, submitting Tamires Vidal in this past October and knocking out Chelsea Chandler in April.
