Kallazhagar visit: police issue directions to vehicle users
No vehicles would allowed on the road leading to Ramarayar Mandapam, A.V. Bridge and Yanaikkal new bridge on Monday (May 12) during Lord Kallazhagar's entry into the Vaigai, said Madurai City Police.
Further, vehicle parking would not be allowed near Obula Padithurai, Vaigai South Bank Road and Vaigai North Bank Road. Vehicles coming from the south side of the city would not be permitted to enter north side via A.V. bridge and Sellur new bridge.
Car parking would be allowed near the venue based on the colour of the cards issued to them. Cars with green cards should go through Periyar statue, Aavin junction, Kuruvikaran Salai, Kamarajar Salai, Munichalai junction, Obula Padithurai, Amsavalli juncton, East Veli Street, Nelpettai, Anna statue and they would be allowed to park on the south side entrance of A.V. bridge. From there, vehicles should exit through A.V. Bridge, Anna statue and East Veli Street junction.
Cars with blue cards should go from Periyar statue, Gandhi Memorial Musuem Road and Collector Office Road, and they should be parked at Anna Bus Stand. They should exit through Aavin junction.
Buses and heavy vehicles proceeding from New Natham Road, Alagarkovil Road and Melur Road towards East Veli Street and Simakkal should go via Race Course Road — Natham Road junction, Pandian Hotel junction, District Court, K.K. Nagar arch, K.K. Nagar Main Road, Aavin junction, Kuruvikaran Salai, Ganesh Theatre junction, Kamarajar Salai, St. Mary's junction and South Veli Street.
Vehicles moving from Periyar Bus Stand towards New Natham Road, Alagarkovil Road and Melur Road should go through Kattabomman statue, South Marat Street, Mahal Road, Keezhavasal junction, Kamarajar Salai, Kuruvikaran Salai, Aavin junction, K.K. Nagar Road and Melur Road route.
Vehicles proceeding from Thathaneri Road towards New Natham Road, Alagarkoil Road, Melur Road should go through LIC junction, Kulamangalam Road, Sellur 60 Feet Road and P.T. Rajan Road.
Devotees witnessing Lord Kallazhagar's 'Ethir sevai' should park their vehicles on Gokhale Road, Thirumukkalam Road, Abdul Road, Agraharam Road, Kabar Khan Road, Lala Lajapathi Rai Road, Al-Ameen School premises and ground, L.P.N. School ground, ITI ground, Sethana School ground and YMCA School ground.
Those witnessing Lord Kallazhagar's Vaigai entry should park their vehicles at Gandhi Memorial Museum, on Dr. Thangaraj Salai, Race Course ground, MKU College premises, MKU Evening College premises, Sai Ram School premises, PWD office premises, Tamukkam grounds, South Masi and Keezha Masi streets and Kamarajar Salai.
