Pangelinan's family says the passage of time has not made the pain any easier, but they continue to hold out hope.'So it's like we try to get through the day and be positive, but it's always in the back of our minds,' said his daughter, Patricia Arde. 'Every holiday, every birthday… I used to talk to my dad every day, either by phone or in person. So to think that we haven't done so in two years is so heartbreaking.'
Arde said she and her mother plan to follow up on recent tips in Waianae and expressed gratitude for the community's ongoing support.
The Department of Law Enforcement announced it plans to launch a statewide Silver Alert system on July 1. Similar to the AMBER and Maile alerts, the system will notify the public when at-risk kūpuna — including those with dementia or Alzheimer's — go missing.
