8 students from Chandigarh participate in Isro young scientist programme

1 2 Chandigarh: Eight students from Chandigarh schools participated in the two-week-long Isro's Young Scientist Programme 2025 at U R Rao Satellite Centre (URSC), Bengaluru, from May 19 to 30. One of the participants, Pankaj Ahuja of St John School, Sector 26, described it as an important opportunity for engaging with prominent scientists and understanding recent advances in space research and satellite technology. He noted that the programme encompassed sessions on space science, satellite applications, future missions, and practical experience with satellite systems. The annual programme attracted 350 students representing various states and union territories across India. This educational initiative aims to stimulate scientific interest among school students by providing direct engagement with space science, technology, and applications through lectures, discussions, and visits to laboratories. The Chandigarh representatives included Osheen Maleri of Carmel Convent School, Ayushmann Chathli of RIMT World School, Arshiya Thakur from Ankur School, Shreyas Shahi, a student of the PM Shri Kendriya Vidyalaya 3BRD, Mohammad Sahl Siddiqui of Delhi Public School, Sanat Kumar of Tender Heart High School, and Raghav of PM Shri Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya. The Young Scientist Programme represents Isro's initiative to encourage interest in STEM subjects amongst school students and identify promising talent for India's future space endeavours.
