Saree, Sindoor And Sculpted Drama: Aishwarya Rai's Cannes Style Was Unforgettable

Last Updated: Aishwarya Rai Bachchan lit up Cannes 2024 with a breathtaking blend of Indian tradition and cinematic glamour. Though the red carpet at the Festival de Cannes has been rolled away for the year, the impressions left by Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's stunning appearances continue to echo across fashion circles. The celebrated actor and global spokesperson for L'Oréal Paris brought back her signature poise and glamour to the French Riviera, reminding the world once again why she remains an undisputed icon on the global stage. Marking a milestone moment for L'Oréal Paris—its 28th year of association with the prestigious film festival—Aishwarya's return was nothing short of a cinematic spectacle. Her two standout appearances this year served as both a homage to Indian craftsmanship and a display of modern sophistication. Look One: Regal Indian Elegance In her first appearance, Aishwarya turned heads with a timeless Indian look that radiated heritage and grace. Draped in a handcrafted ivory Banarasi saree by Manish Malhotra, paired with a sheer tissue dupatta, she redefined red carpet dressing through the lens of Indian tradition. What made the ensemble even more striking was the vivid red sindoor—a powerful, culturally rich symbol that stood out with elegance on the international stage. Her glowing makeup look, created entirely with L'Oréal Paris products, added to the regal effect. The Infallible 24H Tinted Serum Foundation in the shade 1-2 Rosy Light provided a radiant, hydrated base. Her lips were defined with Color Riche Satin Lipstick in 540 Le Nude Unstoppable, while her eyes made a bold statement with Panorama Mascara, Infallible Grip Up to 36H Gel Automatic Liner in 001 Intense Black, and Infallible Grip 24H Matte Liquid Liner in 01 Matte Black. The overall effect was one of quiet majesty—refined, rooted, and resonant. Her beauty look, once again crafted using L'Oréal Paris essentials, featured the Infallible 24H Tinted Serum Foundation for that signature dewy glow. Her lips were painted in the bold, statement-making Infallible Matte Resistance Liquid Lipstick in 420 Le Rouge Paris, a colour that echoed both strength and sensuality. Her eye makeup delivered high impact with Infallible Grip 24H Matte Liquid Liner and Panorama Mascara, adding intensity to her vintage glamour. Her hair, coloured in L'Oréal Paris Excellence Crème Hair Color in 4.25 Aishwarya's Brown, was styled to perfection using the Extraordinary Oil Serum, exuding volume, sheen, and softness with every turn. Lights, Beauty, Action: A Legacy Continues This year's Cannes campaign theme, 'Lights, Beauty, Action", was a tribute not only to the art of cinema but to the ideals of self-worth and empowerment that L'Oréal Paris has long championed. Aishwarya's presence on the red carpet embodied this ethos to its core—each look telling a story of cultural pride, timeless beauty, and fierce individuality. As Cannes 2025 prepares to usher in a new chapter next year, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's 2024 appearance will remain etched as one of its most memorable fashion moments—where Indian identity met global glamour in perfect harmony. L'Oréal names first-ever chief innovation and prospective officer

French beauty giant L'Oréal announced on Wednesday the appointment of Delphine Viguier-Hovasse to the newly created role of chief innovation and prospective officer, effective July 1. Forming part of the Paris-based company's executive committee, Viguier-Hovasse will report to Barbara Lavernos, deputy chief executive officer, in charge of research, innovation and technology. In her new position, Viguier-Hovasse will oversee both the firm's existing innovation teams and the strategic prospective department, for a holistic and pioneering approach to beauty innovation, according to a press release. A beauty veteran with a background in engineering, Viguier-Hovasse joined L'Oréal in 1997, rising through the leadership ranks across marketing and innovation. In 2019, she was named the first woman ever to lead the L'Oréal Paris brand at a global level, where the brand logged impressive growth, thanks to new innovations like Elsève Glycolic Gloss and Panorama Mascara. The executive also lead the brand's iconic events, such 'Le Défilé', which has become a regular on Paris Fashion Week, as well the brand's participation at the Cannes Film Festival. Under her leadership, the brand has also supported female empowerment via its Stand-Up program against street harassment, which has trained nearly 3 million people worldwide. 'I am delighted to appoint Delphine as the group's first-ever chief innovation and prospective officer," said Nicolas Hieronimus, chief executive officer of L'Oréal. "Her exceptional track record of innovation and her strategic vision make her ideally suited to elevate our company's innovation to new heights. I am sure that her forward-thinking approach and deep understanding of the evolving beauty landscape will help us write the next chapter of the L'Oréal adventure." In its most recent trading update in April, L'Oreal logged a 3.5% rise in like-for-like first-quarter sales, as strong demand in Europe more than offset tougher market conditions in the United States.

Boots' £10 'tan maximiser' lotion leaves skin 'silky soft' and 'hydrated'

Boots shoppers can save on the popular 'moisturising' lotion that 'prolongs your tan up to one month' Boots has discounted a lotion that "prolongs your tan up to one month and instantly calms sun-exposed skin" to £10. The Lancaster Tan Maximiser After Sun Body Lotion 125ml, usually priced at £27, is on offer for one day, while stock lasts. The deal is part of Boots' weekly £10 deals, which see hundreds of products discounted for a limited period. Today's deals include Overnight Face Masks, Serum Concealer, and Panorama Mascara, all reduced to £10. Meanwhile, shoppers keen for a "refreshing after-sun lotion" can save on the Lancaster Tan Maximiser After Sun Body Lotion 125ml. The product description states: " Our Golden Tan Maximizer After Sun Lotion prolongs your tan up to one month and instantly calms sun-exposed skin. Made with natural-origin Buriti oil, Lancaster's Tan Activator Complex intensifies melanin production for a golden, even and long-lasting tan. "This refreshing after-sun lotion contains a repairing complex that instantly soothes your skin. It reduces the risk of peeling and leaves skin supple and hydrated." However, shoppers looking for after-sun skincare have plenty more choices if they'd prefer an alternative. Selfridges offers Dior Solar The After-Sun balm 150ml for £40, Spake NK offers Institut Esthederm Shimmering After Sun Body Lotion for £52, Boots offers Piz Buin Aftersun Tan Intensifier 200ml for £7.99, and Look Fantastic offers Ambre Solaire After Sun Tan Maintainer with Self Tan 200ml on offer for £6. Reviewing the Lancaster Tan Maximiser After Sun Body Lotion, shoppers gave it an average rating of 4.7 out of five. One pleased customer said: "Lovely creamy moisturiser helps to retain your summer colour." Another impressed buyer wrote: "Gives my skin a golden glow and not sparkly this is my go to after sun exposure excellent product." A fan of the product commented: "Silky soft skin and hydration is so good, excellent product." Someone else thought: "Best after sun ever. We have used this product for years. It smells amazing, non greasy and keeps your tan for longer." However, not everyone liked the results, reports the Mirror. One reviewer thought: "This is a nice rich moisturiser for the skin. I have to say it doesn't stand out from other after sun lotions and I'm not entirely sure if it's worth the price. The scent is just ok and I feel there are longer lasting, richer creams out there." Another suggested: "A nice product that applies well, but the smell is SO strong. Far too strong - and smells very powdery like and old lady's perfume. Not at all my taste." Someone else added: "It was a nice moisturizing cream but expected so much more for the price no noticeable tan prolonging. Gutted as I'd saved for it being a special treat for me and was left wanting." A similar comment read: "Brilliant for a moisturiser, not so great for its purpose." Exposure to UV rays can be harmful to your skin and health. The NHS recommends use of SPF sun cream for anyone exposed to sun or UV rays. Find out more here. The NHS says: "Sunburn increases your risk of skin cancer. Sunburn does not just happen on holiday. You can burn in the UK, even when it's cloudy. There's no safe or healthy way to get a tan. A tan does not protect your skin from the sun's harmful effects."
