Harvey Weinstein accuser breaks down in court during intense cross-examination
Tensions reached a boiling point during Harvey Weinstein 's ongoing sexual assault trial in New York City, as former TV production assistant Miriam Haley gave a tearful and emotional testimony, calling the former filmmaker a "f---ing asshole" during cross-examination. According to Variety, the heated exchange took place on Friday morning, as Weinstein's defence attorney, Jennifer Bonjean, pressed Haley on her decision to accept an invitation to meet the ex-producer at his SoHo apartment on July 10, 2006. Bonjean's line of questioning centred on Haley's prior encounter with Weinstein, when he had unexpectedly arrived at her East Village home after she declined his invitation to attend Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week, a visit she later described as "bizarre." Haley explained that she felt as though she might have "offended" Weinstein by turning down the fashion week offer, as per Variety. When Weinstein later invited her to Los Angeles for the premiere of Clerks II, she said she felt obligated to at least "say hi" to him at his apartment. "I felt it would've been weird not to go," she told the court, as quoted by Variety. Bonjean, attempting to discredit Haley's motives, asked, "You accepted a benefit, right?" referring to the flight and event invitation from Weinstein. Haley responded simply, "An invitation, yeah." The questioning then turned to the details of what Haley was wearing during the meeting at Weinstein's apartment. Despite Bonjean's persistent queries, Haley said she could not recall specifics about her outfit. Bonjean pressed further, asking, "Is it possible you were wearing jeans?" Haley replied that she did not remember Weinstein removing her jeans. However, the situation turned grimly when Bonjean asked, "What do you remember him ripping off?" Haley's answer was unequivocal: "My tampon," as quoted by Variety. The courtroom grew tense as Haley's emotional response intensified. When questioned again about the specifics of the assault, Haley maintained that she did not remove her own clothes during the encounter. Bonjean implied that it was up to the jury to determine the truth of this claim. At that point, Haley broke down in tears, her voice rising in frustration. "It's my experience!" Haley exclaimed as she turned her gaze toward Weinstein, seated in the courtroom. "F--ing asshole," she said, as quoted by Variety. Weinstein, who has pleaded not guilty to the charges against him, faces a first-degree criminal sexual act charge related to the July 2006 incident with Haley. In addition to this charge, Weinstein is also facing charges of first-degree criminal sexual act and third-degree rape in connection with other alleged incidents. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges.

Kylie Jenner's hairstylist Jesus Guerrero dies 'suddenly and unexpectedly' at 34
Jesus Guerrero, a celebrity hairstylist who worked with stars including Kylie Jenner and Jennifer Lopez, has died. He was 34. Guerrero's death was confirmed Sunday on his verified Instagram page. In an Instagram story, his family remembered him as "the brightest light" and said "we have never doubted that he touched the hearts and lives of everyone he came across." "We have fallen into tears repeatedly reminiscing and wondering what we could of done different to still have him with us," the story added. Another Instagram story shared on Guerrero's account read, "I don't know how the world will go on without his light but I know he'll give us the strength to push past any obstacle." A GoFundMe page that appears to be organized by Guerrero's sister did not confirm a cause of death but said "his passing came very suddenly and unexpectedly." Need a break? In October, after Jenner walked the runway at Paris Fashion Week wearing a princess gown in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle in Disneyland Paris, Guerrero said on Instagram, "My 12 year old self is screaming !!!!!" The hairstylist also worked with Demi Moore, Dua Lipa, Katy Perry and more stars. He was based in Los Angeles and had a "penchant for the ultra-glam and feminine," according to his profile on his agency The Wall Group's website. Photo: Handout Icons and Influencers 'You see these feathers?' asks Chinese couture designer Cheney Chan, pointing to a breathtaking work – not a bird, but a dress, covered in finely cut fibres that appear so feather-like that Chan has to clarify they aren't real. They represent something more remarkable, these feathery wisps fashioned from layers upon layers of silk, painstakingly peeled apart like bananas, according to Chan, to achieve that airy and ethereal effect. This is a marriage of contemporary art and traditional craft, where Mother Nature meets human innovation and the genius of a young designer meets age-old wisdom backed by thousands of years of civilisation. Photo: Handout It's telling that Chan chose to use one of ancient China's greatest inventions – a precious, delicate material made from the metamorphosis of silkworms – to create his own, marking the designer's impressive evolution over the years and fully realising his transformative vision of fashion. Just as silk, woven into luxurious fabrics and traded along its namesake Silk Road, became the hottest new commodity on the block as early as two millennia ago, Chan is now one of mainland China's most promising young exports – a home-grown talent making revolutionary breakthroughs in the East and West. His may be a relatively new name to audiences in the West – Chan made his unofficial debut during Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week in June – but TikTok users may be surprised to learn that on Douyin, China's version of the short-form video app, he is already a well-known fashion influencer and commentator, with more than five million followers on the platform. Photo: Handout 'When I talk with my followers, we just talk about how to make you more fashionable,' says Chan when we catch up at his recent trunk show with the Hong Kong Fashion Designers Association. 'It's easy to deal with ready-to-wear, how to cover your body, shape your body, something like that. But when I do couture work, I just be myself. I don't need to talk with anyone else.' As much a dreamer as he is a designer, Chan has larger-than-life ideas that often take shape subconsciously as he grounds himself in the design process – grasping with the grandiosity of his fantasies, so to speak, without losing his grip on reality. 'For me, it's [been] a long journey to do this,' says Chan, 32, who earned his stripes as a ready-to-wear designer for almost a decade before launching his couture-exclusive Cheney Chan Private label in 2021. 'In the past, I didn't do it well. When I designed a dress about, for example, porcelain, I only drew some patterns like qinghua qi [blue and white Chinese porcelain]. But it was not enough. Following that train of thought led Chan to develop the principle of fengya qi , which translates roughly as 'elegant porcelain' – a term the designer coined to describe not only his porcelain-like creations, but also his overall rebranding. 'Now when I think about porcelain, I make it myself,' he says of his trial-and-error approach. 'I found something very funny – I'm not good at making porcelain, and it will fall down. It gave me many beautiful silhouettes.'
