PHOTOS: NETFLIX, DISNEY+ Nine Puzzles Disney+ Those who love solving puzzles will enjoy this cerebral crime thriller, which has become Disney+'s most-viewed South Korean title globally in 2025 – just nine days after the show's May 21 premiere. Kim Da-mi is Yoon E-na, a kooky crime profiler on the trail of a serial killer who leaves behind puzzle pieces at the crime scenes. Joining her in the cat-and-mouse game is Son Suk-ku's cynical detective Kim Han-saem. They may butt heads, but both are determined to catch the potential mastermind behind a decade-old cold murder case. If bingeing on Nine Puzzles is not enough, viewers can try their hand at solving crimes inspired by the series at the Nine Puzzles: Decoded interactive escape room experience. Find hidden clues and crack codes, and receive a personalised keepsake at the end of the nine challenges. The Nine Puzzles: Decoded pop-up is at Plaza Singapura (B2-17/18) until June 10. Entry is free, from 3 to 9pm on weekdays and 11am to 10pm on weekends. Our Unwritten Seoul Netflix With only four episodes in since its debut on May 24, Our Unwritten Seoul has already claimed the third spot on Netflix's global top 10 non-English shows chart. In the coming-of-age K-drama, South Korean actress Park Bo-young plays identical twins Yu Mi-ji and Yu Mi-jae, who happen to be polar opposites. Portraying two unique characters is already a challenge. Yet, the premise sees the sisters swopping identities, so Park is technically tasked to bring four distinctive personas to life. Elder twin Mi-jae works in a government agency in Seoul. Eager to please and always striving to be the best, the submissive woman falls from grace after a workplace incident and becomes a victim of office bullying. Meanwhile, bubbly and assertive Mi-ji lives in the countryside with their single mother and ailing grandmother. The over-achieving Mi-jae is favoured over the aimless Mi-ji, but the younger twin is the quiet pillar of strength in the family. Our Unwritten Seoul also stars K-idol Jinyoung from boy band Got7 as the twins' neighbour and Mi-ji's love interest. The 12-episode series about finding oneself is a slow-burner, and it works purely because of Park's versatile performance. Lost In Starlight 98 minutes, Netflix Lost In Starlight features the voices of Kim Tae-ri and Hong Kyung. PHOTO: NETFLIX Set in a futuristic Seoul, Lost In Starlight follows astro-scientist Nan-young and musician Jay's budding romance. Their relationship is put to the test when Nan-young gets accepted into a space programme that will take her to Mars. Can the star-crossed lovers make it through space and time, and achieve their dreams? These are some questions raised by South Korean film-maker Han Ji-won in this animated film. Oscar-winning South Korean director Bong Joon-ho praised Lost In Starlight as 'a visual masterpiece that takes you around the universe' in a statement accompanying the film's global release on May 30. Lost In Starlight is Netflix's first South Korean animation, and features the voices of award-winning actress Kim Tae-ri as Nan-young and actor Hong Kyung as Jay. Incidentally, both Kim and Hong first starred together in the acclaimed K-horror series Revenant (2023). Strong first episode, really hooked me in and it portrays the reality of working, burnout and sacrificing for the family,' moodylikeme echoed. 'Another banger by Park Bo young. I genuinely love the type of scripts she's been picking. I also love the whole cinematography of the show — beautiful,' sleepdeprivedsince92 agreed. 'Very strong first episode, wasn't even planning on watching this but now I'm seated!!' ohmrbelorit concluded. 'Every year a show, be it kdrama of captures my attention because it does such mesmerising job at capturing a sense of emptiness in space, atmosphere, presence, feeling and eventually confiding in someone who can enter the place you've been stuck in,' Anineteen declared. 'This is one of those dramas where I wish they released all episodes at once. After watching just 1 episode, I'm thirsty for more and can't wait to see what happens next,' bathingapeman despaired. More Trending In an interview with Variety one of the show's stars, Ryu Kyung-soo shared his hopes for what viewers would take away. 'I hope viewers find comfort through it. For anyone going through a hard time or feeling lost in deep darkness lately, I wish this show can help give you courage to heal and move forward,' they said. Park echoed: 'Many times, I realized the words I said to others were also words I needed to hear myself. I believe viewers will understand why I say this as they watch the drama.' Korean actress Park Bo-young on loving herself, chemistry with Choi Woo-shik on Melo Movie

Korean actress Park Bo-young, 35, appeared with a serious expression in the recently released Netflix drama Melo Movie. Advertisement Playing Kim Mu-bee, a film crew member, Park portrays a character who is cynical and emotionally guarded, speaking only when necessary and in a low, restrained voice. When Go Gyeom, played by Choi Woo-shik, a cheerful and outgoing character, shows interest in her, she asks him earnestly: 'Isn't it exhausting to always pretend to be so cheerful?' Park sat down for an interview recently to discuss her transformation for this unfamiliar yet compelling role. When she received the offer to star in Melo Movie , she initially questioned whether the role was right for her. Her character, Mu-bee, has closed herself off from the world, hardened by a complicated relationship with her father – vastly different from the bright, lovable roles that have defined Park's career. Advertisement Still, the opportunity to explore this contrasting side of herself was too compelling to pass up.

Meet Park Bo-young, star of K-dramas Melo Movie and Light Shop

Published: 6:15pm, 15 Feb 2025 Korean actress Park Bo-young, who turned 35 this week, has become a fixture on global streaming services of late, having made her Netflix debut in Daily Dose of Sunshine in 2023 and then on Disney+ this winter in Light Shop . This Valentine's Day, she returned to Netflix opposite Choi Woo-shik in the cinematically inclined romance Melo Movie , the latest drama penned by Our Beloved Summer scriptwriter Lee Na-eun. While this chapter of her career has introduced the actress to many international fans, Park shot to fame as a teenager. She acted opposite many of the country's biggest male stars early in her career, including Lee Min-ho , Kim Soo-hyun and Song Joong-ki . Why we love her Park Bo-young and Choi Woo-shik in a still from Melo Movie. Photo: Ko Nam-hi/Netflix Born in North Chungcheong province as the middle child in a family of three daughters, Park may have begun her screen career early, but it was in many ways an unexpected start. While in middle school, some of her seniors were making a short film and they needed someone to perform as a doll. Park was cast in the role as she was the shortest option they had around them. The resulting short film, Equal , earned awards on the festival circuit in 2005. A year later, Park made her professional debut in the high-school drama Secret Campus , which was headlined by Lee Min-ho, who had only recently made his debut. She also appeared with a very young Kim Soo-hyun in the 2008 television special Jungle Fish .
