Parker Kligerman loses appeal after having NASCAR Truck Series win erased by disqualification
ATLANTA — Parker Kligerman on Thursday lost his appeal after having his NASCAR Truck Series season-opening win at Daytona erased by a disqualification. NASCAR disqualified Kligerman's No. 75 on Friday night when his truck was found to be too low in a postrace inspection. Corey Heim was declared the new winner. Kligerman immediately announced plans to appeal the ruling. That appeal was denied on Thursday by the National Motorsports Appeals Panel. The panel upheld NASCAR's original finding by ruling 'The panel confirms it is more likely than not a rules violation did occur and the disqualification penalties in Rule 10.5.2.4 necessitate a race disqualification.' The adjustment to the standings gave actor Frankie Muniz his first career top-10 finish. Kligerman retired from full-time racing at the end of last season and has a larger role as a television analyst this year. He is not entered in Saturday's Atlanta Truck Series race. ___ AP auto racing:

Appeals panel upholds DQ of Parker Kligerman's team after Daytona Truck race
Corey Heim will remain the winner of the season-opening NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Daytona after an appeal by Henderson Motorsports failed Thursday. Parker Kligerman took the checkered flag first in last week's race but his Henderson Motorsports truck failed inspection after it was found to be too low in the rear. That elevated Heim to race winner. Dustin Long, The team's appeal was heard Thursday. The National Motorsports Appeals Panel explained in upholding the penalty: 'The panel confirms it is more likely than not a rules violation did occur and the disqualification penalties in Rule 10.5.2.4 necessitate a race disqualification.' The panel's decision is final. The panel members for the hearing were Bill Mullis, Kevin Whitaker and Tommy Wheeler. Update: Unfortunately we have lost our appeal regarding our disqualification from last week's race in Daytona. While we feel that we had a very strong case, we respect the panel's decision. We'd again like to thank all the fans for their support. We've shown that we can compete,…

NASCAR disqualifies Kligerman for too-low truck after flag-planting win at Daytona. He is appealing
Full-time television analyst and part-time NASCAR driver Parker Kligerman claimed the checkered flag for the Truck Series season opener and promptly planted it in the grass by the Daytona International Speedway logo. It's a winning tradition that journeyman Kligerman had done for all three of his truck wins, the first back at Talladega in 2012. So it seemed appropriate Friday night for what Kligerman called the 'biggest win of my entire life' in a raucous postrace celebration. But it was a short party: NASCAR disqualified Kligerman when his truck was found to be too low in a postrace inspection. Corey Heim was declared the new winner, and the adjustment to the standings gave actor Frankie Muniz his first career top-10 finish. Muniz is running the full Truck Series schedule this year as he attempts to juggle a second career as a motorsports driver. Kligerman, who retired from full-time racing at the end of last season and will have a larger role as a television analyst this year, said Saturday he would appeal the disqualification as he prepared to work the Xfinity Series race for the The CW network. 'Biggest win of my life. Thank y'all for the wonderful messages. Over 700 texts,' he added on social media. "I will not be commenting any further until we are able to present what I believe is a very, very valid case. 'Until then, I'm fully focused on my job (as Xfinity analyst) because the drivers and teams deserve the full focus on the massive stage ahead of them.' Kligerman crossed the finish line first Friday night for what would have been his fourth career victory in the Truck Series, his first win since Mid-Ohio in 2022. His postrace celebration was popular and he rallied the crowd by telling the spectators in the grandstands "all of you fans here at Daytona, thank you so much! God, I love this place. I love racing. I love winning. Kligerman called it quits on full-time racing at the end of last year and is shifting into another side of motorsports with his growing broadcasting career. He was backed for years by Scott Borchetta, founder of the Big Machine Label Group, and was a fan favorite despite never winning in 152 races in NASCAR's top Cup and Xfinity Series. He had a respectable career, nonetheless, but at 34 years old, Kligerman decided his future is in broadcasting. The CW has the entire Xfinity Series schedule and Kligerman is called by NBC Sports 'one of the youngest correspondents to ever serve as a pit reporter for a NASCAR Cup race.' The disqualification is a second NASCAR heartbreak for Kligerman. He nearly won the Xfinity Series race last fall at The Roval at Charlotte Motor Speedway but NASCAR threw a late caution flag just seconds before Kligerman crossed under the white flag, which would have made the race official. Kligerman instead lost the race in overtime. A win would have advanced him in the Xfinity Series playoffs and been the first in that series for Kligerman. ___ AP auto racing: Jenna Fryer, The Associated Press

NASCAR Trucks Series Winner at Daytona Disqualified; Corey Heim Awarded the Win
Shortly after Parker Kligerman was flagged the winner in the season opening NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Daytona International Speedway the sanctioning body disqualified him when post-race inspection revealed his truck was too low in the rear. Second-place finisher Corey Heim in the No. 11 truck was then declared the race winner by NASCAR. 'It's my first time having this kind of scenario happen either way,' Heim said. 'Certainly, glad to be on the right side of it. Sucks for Parker and those guys. They seemed like they, obviously, put themselves in position at the right time to win the race, but, obviously, there's another level to it after the race.' This is the second time in four months that Kligerman has lost a race due to a NASCAR decision. At Charlotte Motor Speedway's Roval in October 2024, Kligerman was within five feet of receiving the white flag when the caution lights came on for Leland Honeyman's crash. If Kligerman had received the white flag, signaling the final lap, before the caution lights were turned on the race would have ended under the yellow and the then full-time Xfinity Series driver would have been victorious. Instead, the race went into overtime and Sam Mayer won. After that event, Kligerman said he wanted to cry knowing how close he was to the start/finish line, but he didn't. Kligerman retired from full-time competition at the end of the 2024 season to go into broadcasting on a full-time basis.
