Parmeet Sethi calls vlogging his ‘second career', reveals sons want to become actors: ‘They audition every week…'

Archana Puran Singh, along with her husband Parmeet Sethi and their sons Aryamann and Ayushmaan, have gained immense popularity with their vlogs on YouTube. In fact, they even documented their recent holiday in Switzerland. In an interview with SCREEN, Parmeet opened up about their trip, making kids fly economy, and their rising fame. In one of their vlogs, their sons revealed that their parents Archana and Parmeet didn't allow them to fly in business class with them, and asked them to earn their own money to enjoy the privilege. When asked about the same, he shared, 'We have always tried to keep our children grounded, as normal as possible and keeping them away from the trappings of being in a filmy family. Jitna normal ho sake itna rakhne ki koshish ki hai humne. We have more or less succeeded.' Parmeet continued, 'We taught them that just because you are a star kid, you won't get any special attention, status or treatment. So, earn your livelihood, and at the same time, earn your respect. The beauty shouldn't come to you in your lap. This is what we have inculcated in them since the beginning. They understand that and agree to it. When they travelled in business class with their own money, that joy was incomparable. It was ten times more than your parents handing you a ticket.' ALSO READ | 'Sharminda' Parmeet Sethi kept apologising to Anil Kapoor as they ran 3 kms across airport to catch a flight for Dil Dhadakne Do shoot: 'He was in a towel' Parmeet Sethi also revealed that their kids plan to follow in the footsteps of their parents and have already started auditioning for roles. 'Aryamann has a music career and also wants to become an actor. Ayushman only wants to become an actor. He is really looking for a lead role in a series or film. Both are auditioning every week. They have been preparing themselves from the last 2-3 years with Atul Mongia classes and everything. They are itching to come on screen now,' he said. With over 7 lakh subscribers on YouTube, Parmeet feels that this could be a second innings of his career, something that the family wasn't expecting. 'It makes me happy that millions of people are watching us. We were not expecting it – socha tha 20-25K views ajayenge and now it's in millions. We all are very grateful. It's like a second career for me. Archana, I and the kids have started taking it seriously. Maybe it is the plan B which is coming good,' he reflected. Has it proved to be more fruitful than his career as an actor? 'It has proved to be more fruitful, definitely. We started it because we believe that this is the future and we wanted to be a part of it. The entertainment landscape is changing rapidly,' he replied. 'It is coming to your phone screen. My sons were recognised on the roads of Switzerland. More than us, they were being stopped for selfies. They are the new kids on the block, people wanted to talk to them. It makes my heart so happy,' Parmeet concluded.

Parmeet Sethi credits wife Archana Puran Singh for teaching him to laugh at himself: ‘She sits on that chair, takes punches…'

Archana Puran Singh has always been a good sport when it comes to being at the receiving end of jokes, be it on Comedy Circus, or her stint on Kapil Sharma's shows. In Archana's family vlogs, the actor's husband Parmeet Sethi is seen cracking poor jokes (PJs) and making fun of himself, leaving those around him in splits. Now, in an exclusive interview with SCREEN, Paremeet revealed that his wife Archana is the inspiration behind his attitude. During the conversation, Parmeet was asked about laughing at himself and indulging in self-depreciating humour in the vlogs. He replied, 'That is something which I realised that if you want to crack jokes, then you should also be able to take jokes. It cannot be a one-way street. That is something I have also learned from Archana. When she sits on the chair and takes punches, it's not a serious thing to feel bad about. It's fun.' The Dil Dhadakne Do actor added, 'You have to poke fun at something or someone. Vo nahi hoga toh life mein fun rahega hi kahan. So, if you want to have fun in life, stop being so serious about everything or taking things to heart. Take it lightly, have fun. I have started enjoying my life much more since the time I have started cracking jokes, having fun, and being relaxed about things. It kind of permeates into the rest of your life as well.' ALSO READ | Archana Puran Singh, Parmeet Sethi travelled by business class, made sons fly economy: 'We made a rule, they had to earn it' Parmeet Sethi also shared that it helped change the perception people had of him. 'My conversations with people are more pleasant. People used to think that I am a very serious guy. Now they think that I am a funny guy. So, everything changes. Why not have fun in daily life? Why should you only keep it for the time you are watching a comedy film?' the actor concluded. On the work front, Parmeet Sethi will next be seen in the new season of Special Ops. On the other hand, Archana Puran Singh last featured in Nadaaniyan, with Ibrahim Ali Khan and Khushi Kapoor. She has the upcoming season of The Great Indian Kapil Show in her kitty.

Why did Archana Puran Singh's husband, Parmeet Sethi, apologise to Anil Kapoor at Istanbul airport?

Parmeet Sethi has shared the screen with actor Anil Kapoor in Dil Dhadakne Do, directed by Zoya Akhtar. Even behind the scenes, Dil Dhadakne Do was every bit the chaotic, heartfelt adventure that played out on screen. As the film marks its 10th anniversary, actor Parmeet Sethi, who played Lalit Sood, shared a lighthearted memory that perfectly captures the spirit of the film—one involving a missed flight, a language mix-up, and a very forgiving Anil speaking to SCREEN, Parmeet Sethi recounted an amusing travel mishap involving Anil Kapoor during the Dil Dhadakne Do shoot. The two were flying to Barcelona with a layover in Istanbul. Relaxing in the business class lounge, Parmeet checked the flight display, written in Turkish and mistakenly assumed they had ample time before unhurried, they decided to unwind further in the spa's sauna. However, a lounge staffer soon came looking for them, alerting them that their flight was about to depart. Wrapped in towels, the actors rushed out, changed clothes in a frenzy, and sprinted through the vast airport. Despite their efforts, the boarding gate had already closed. The unexpected detour meant an overnight stay in Istanbul. While Parmeet felt responsible and apologetic, Anil Kapoor remained calm and understanding, acknowledging that it wasn't entirely his fault. This off-screen mishap mirrors the humour and heart of Dil Dhadakne Do, which tells the story of the Mehra family's dramatic 10-day cruise. Directed by Zoya Akhtar, the film featured a stellar cast including Anil Kapoor, Shefali Shah, Priyanka Chopra, Ranveer Singh, Anushka Sharma, and Farhan Akhtar, with narration by Aamir Khan. Ten years later, the film is still loved and cherished by fans.

Anil Kapoor, Parmeet Sethi Missed Flight While Enjoying Sauna: ‘Kapde Utaarte Hai, Jaate Hai Araam Se'

Last Updated: Parmeet Sethi recalls his most memorable shoot on Dil Dhadakne Do -- the time he and Anil Kapoor missed a flight due to a hilarious mix-up in Istanbul. Parmeet Sethi recently recalled the unforgettable experience of shooting for Zoya Akhtar's Dil Dhadakne Do, which turns 10 this year. Speaking to SCREEN, the actor—who played Lalit Sood in the comedy-drama — described it as one of the most memorable projects of his career. Recalling the time spent with the cast and crew, Parmeet said, 'I can't describe it in one line. It was a beautiful, one of the best work trips I've ever had in my life. We were shooting on a ship in the Mediterranean sea, something which I had never done before. It is so rare these days to get such an ensemble cast on board with the schedule and dates, everyone shooting together as a group. It was something I would actually never forget." One standout memory from the shoot involved an unexpected hiccup during travel, when Parmeet mistakenly caused both him and Anil Kapoor to miss their connecting flight. 'I and Anil were flying together from India, and we had a break in Istanbul, before going to Barcelona. He and I were in the business class lounge, just eating food and talking. He asked me to check the timing to board the next flight. His staff was outside the business lounge, and only he and I were there. I went to see the display, I read the time, it was written in Turkish. I told him that we have a lot of time, no problem," he shared. What followed was something straight out of a comedy. 'There was a nice sauna and steam in the business class lounge. He said, 'Chalo kapde utaarte hain, jaate hain araam se'. We were chilling at the spa over there. Suddenly, a person came and asked our names, and said that our flight is leaving now. I was shocked." The two actors rushed through the airport in a panic but couldn't make it in time. 'So, I was basically looking at the time of departure as the time of boarding. Bechaara Anil was inside in his towel and I had to pull him out, 'Chalo'. I told him that it was in Turkish and I got confused. I thought we have around an hour. We quickly wore our clothes and we were running throughout that huge airport. We must have ran for atleast 2-3 kms and the gate was closed," he revealed. Though the delay caused some concern, Anil Kapoor was understanding. 'We missed the flight, mai itna sharminda tha. I kept apologising to him. But, he was so kind, he said that my staff should have called me, it isn't your fault. They were waiting over there for us, they should have told us. Then, he and I had to stay the night over there in Istanbul. We had an unexpected speed bump, till today, I think about that day. What a rookie mistake I made! The whole crew was worried that what happened, main kisi se aankh hi nahi mila paaraha tha," he concluded. First Published:
