1 2 Nagpur: Akshay Tritiya, one of the most auspicious days in the Indian calendar, will be celebrated on Wednesday and city markets reflecting the multifaceted significance of this sacred day. Many new establishments, shops, and ventures will be inaugurated on Wednesday, as Akshay Tritiya is considered auspicious for new beginnings . Earthen pots, symbols of prosperity and tradition, are adorning every corner. Families are seen carefully selecting these pots, ready to immerse in the age-old custom of gifting them, a hallmark of the Akshaya Tritiya celebrations. Alongside, the flower markets are also decked up as devotees prepare for prayers and rituals. While Akshaya Tritiya is recognised as an auspicious day to buy gold, people are also embracing its other significant aspects. The air is thick with the sweet aroma of mangoes, another beloved tradition associated with this time of the year. There's a special buzz around the arrival of mangoes from the Konkan region. Alphonso from Ratnagiri and Devgad, known for their exquisite taste and organic quality, are available at various locations. Nagpurians are placing advance orders with vendors who directly bring the treat from Konkan. Nagpur's ancient Shri Badrinath Temple , located near Doser Bhawan Chowk, will reopen its doors on Wednesday at 6.05am. Revenue minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, minister of state for finance Ashish Jaiswal, local MLAs and dignitaries will be present for the opening ceremony. A day before Akshay Tritiya marks the Janmotsava of Lord Parshuram, and the day of Akshay Tritiya is celebrated as the birth anniversary of Mahatma Basaveshwara. A grand Parshuram Jayanti rally is scheduled for Sunday, May 4. On Tuesday, under the aegis of the Parshuram Seva Samiti and in the presence of Bhai Ramesh Chhangani, the Puskarna Navyuvak Vedpath Mandal performed a 'rudrabhishek' at the Shiva Kashi Shri Ramdev Baba Tekdi. Apart from this, several religious events were held to mark the Parshuram Janmotsava in and around the city.
