Fleeing biker arrested after dragging Pasco deputy 10 feet during traffic stop: PCSO

HUDSON, Fla. (WFLA) — A month-long search has come to an end with the arrest of a suspect who officials said dragged a Pasco County deputy 10 feet while fleeing a traffic stop. The Pasco County Sheriff's Office said investigators found 36-year-old Brandon Robillard at his home on May 18, where he locked himself inside and refused to come out. 5 men charged in connection to 2023 hit-and-run that killed Sarasota man Deputies said they tried to deescalate the situation multiple times before eventually entering the home and taking Robillard into custody. A Pasco County deputy had tried to get Robillard to pull over after spotting him driving a black Suzuki SV650 on April 11 in the U.S. 19 and Beach Boulevard area of Hudson. However, instead of stopping, officials said Robillard accelerated toward the deputy, striking him and dragging him about 10 feet. The sheriff's office said the deputy's injuries were non-life-threatening. Robillard now faces several charges, including fleeing to elude and aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer. Authorities said he also had an active felony warrant out of Polk County. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. First bill targeting deepfake pornography passed by Congress

Related video: Pasco teacher arrested: is AI-generated child porn illegal? TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — The TAKE IT DOWN Act, a bill targeting nonconsensual, sexually exploitative images, passed the House on Monday and now heads to the president's desk. The bill was sponsored by Florida Rep. Maria Eliva Salazar, a Republican who represents parts of Miami. If signed by Trump, the TAKE IT DOWN Act will criminalize the publication of nonconsensual explicit images, commonly referred to as 'revenge porn' on social media and other online platforms, including images that are AI-generated. Deepfake pornography has been a growing issue across the country as generative AI tools have evolved and become more available to the general public. Up to this point, it has been difficult to prosecute cases of deepfake pornography because there were no laws explicitly criminalizing it. It was a problem recently faced by the Pasco County Sheriff's Office when it was discovered that a teacher who was charged with possessing child pornography had also used yearbook photos to create AI-generated child pornography with images of his students. The Pasco County Sheriff's Office was unable to charge him for those images because, at the time, it was legal. A.I. generated child pornography legal under current laws; legislators work to close loophole This act will ensure that in future cases, perpetrators can be charged for AI-generated content as they would be for authentic content. The act will also require websites to take down explicit images within 48 hours of a victim requesting their removal and make reasonable efforts to remove copies of the images. The bill is the first major piece of legislation targeting AI-generated explicit images and was passed by both the House and Senate with bipartisan support. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. Foul play suspected after human remains found in Trilby, Pasco deputies say

Foul play is suspected in the death of a man whose remains were discovered Tuesday morning in Trilby, Pasco deputies said. Deputies discovered the remains of the 33-year-old man in an area near the intersection of Trilby and Old Trilby roads, according to the Pasco County Sheriff's Office. Investigators have identified the man but a sheriff's office spokesperson declined Wednesday to release his name to the Tampa Bay Times, citing Marsy's Law. The Florida Supreme Court ruled in 2023 that 'Marsy's Law does not guarantee to a victim the categorical right to withhold his or her name from disclosure.' Rather, the court held, Marsy's Law speaks about a victim's right to prevent information from being disclosed that could be used to 'locate' them. The sheriff's office spokesperson said the office considers a crime victim's name to be information that must be withheld due to Marsy's Law. No other information was available for release, the spokesperson said.
