Street food champions Pasta a Mano take over Ffwrn Fishguard

Winners of the 2024 British Street Food Awards and last year's Welsh Street Food Award, Pasta a Mano will be coming to Ffwrn in Fishguard on Saturday, June 21. The St Dogmael's company was born following a work trip to Osteria Fratelli Pavesi in Piacenza. (Image: Street Food Circus) Founder Derw Robertson Jacobs first started of Pasta A Mano by selling fresh pasta kits to cook at home during the lockdown in 2020. Since then, Pasta A Mano has gone from strength to strength with its incredible Italian food. Its Car-Y-Mor crab linguine with mascarpone, lemon & Awen Organics agretti impressed the judges at the Welsh Street Food Awards, while its vongole with linguini, fresh cockles, heirloom tomatoes and toasted laver seaweed romped to victory at the British finals. (Image: Derw Robertson-Jacobs) Pasta a Mano's cacio e pepe – a macaroni dish with breadcrumbs, black pepper and pecorino is also very popular. The company is renowned for its use of fresh ingredients sourced locally. 'We take pride in celebrating local produce,' said Derw. 'A lot of people get ingredients from all over the country to make a specific dish, but we focus on getting everything from Pembrokeshire while cooking food that is unique to the area. (Image: Western Telegraph) 'It is a different way of approaching street food. We feel like we offer something completely unique by bringing a dish that celebrates Wales. Everything is made from fresh ingredients. 'Our food is very humble. It's basic and we make everything from scratch. "In Pembrokeshire, I have all these incredible producers on my doorstep - many of whom are now close friends - and all my ingredients come through these really supportive producer relationships. "I'm so proud to be able to showcase what our often-overlooked part of the world has to offer.' Ffwrn in Fishguard is the perfect location to showcase Pasta a Mano's delicious creations. (Image: Ffwrn) The unique and quirky Pembrokeshire restaurant, bar and music venue is located in the old St Mary's Church Hall building. The old hall is decorated with spring green murals capturing the beauty of Pembrokeshire's hedgerows painted by muralist and artist Sarah Pratt. (Image: Ffwrn) Candles, jam jar lights and pendants hand over an array of vintage tables, chairs and pews and the hall's old piano has been deconstructed and used as a room divider. Where the stage that saw countless Christmas plays used to sit is a huge wood fired pizza oven where pizzas and other delicacies are made in the evening. Owner Alice and her team are always ready with a warm welcome and a good glass of something at this unique and much-loved Pembrokeshire venue.
