Wyalusing woman sentenced jail time after stealing $75k from fire department; elderly couple
FRANKLIN TWP, Pa. (WETM) — A Wyalusing woman could see several years behind bars after she was sentenced recently for stealing more than $75,000 from a fire department she previously worked at, according to information from the Bradford County District Attorney's Office.
Patricia Susan Tuttle, 42, was sentenced to a minimum of six months to a maximum of 23 months in the Bradford County Correctional Facility, followed by five years of probation, for theft by unlawful taking and theft by deception. Tuttle was also ordered to pay $77,400 in restitution fees.
Tuttle was initially arrested on the charge of theft by unlawful taking after she stole more than $75,000 from the Franklin Township Fire Department through fraudulent PayPal transactions and ATM withdrawals from the fire company while she worked as the station's secretary/treasurer.

Tuttle was ordered to pay back the money and was only going to be sentenced to probation due to her lack of criminal history and claims that she got the money to pay back the fire company through friends and family.
The AG's office said they learned Tuttle stole the money she used to repay the stolen funds from the fire company by lying to an elderly couple and fraudulently convincing them to give her a loan.
After an investigation into the theft, Tuttle was charged with theft by deception, a felony, and was later convicted on that charge.
'For Tuttle to go from no criminal history to six months in jail and having a felony on her record sends a good message to her not to reoffend,' said Bradford County District Attorney, Richard Wilson, 'and if she violates her parole or probation, she faces more incarceration,' he said.
