No Strings Attached: Get a Direct $300 Off Your Galaxy S25 Ultra With This Amazon Deal

Now is the time to upgrade to one of the best Android phones you can get your hands on in 2025. Amazon has slashed the cost of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra. It's not a cheap phone at all, with prices starting at $1,300 -- but right now it's down to just $1,000. That's a seriously good deal and the lowest price we've seen at Amazon, saving you $300 on the 256GB model. Note that only select colors are currently available at this discounted cost, and we don't expect this deal to last for very long, so be quick if you're interested so you can lock in this price. In his review, CNET's Patrick Holland said that, "If you want the best screen you can find on any phone, get the S25 Ultra. If you want the most versatile phone cameras, get the S25 Ultra. If you want a stylus, get the S25 Ultra." However, he didn't love the price, which isn't a huge surprise. Of course, this deal makes that far less of an issue. Hey, did you know? CNET Deals texts are free, easy and save you money. In fact, if you're looking to get more of Holland's thoughts, you can also read how he felt after two days with this incredible phone. Spoilers: It was good. This is easily one of the best Samsung Galaxy S25 deals going on right now, so make sure you don't miss out if you want to get the phone for less. Why this deal matters The majority of these kinds of big deals on phones involve you having to trade an old phone in or sign up with a new line. The proper discounts are far less common, and often aren't all that notable. So, this is a sizable deal that's easy to get.

Motorola Razr Ultra Is a Retro Icon Reborn With a Design for the Future

Now that flip phones have been resurrected from the early 2000s, the novelty of a compact clamshell is facing the rigors and feature demands of today's competitive phone landscape. It's not enough to flick open your phone and look great taking a call -- although design and especially color and texture go a long way to standing out. A 2025 flip phone needs to make the most of its small components and prove that it's durable enough to endure. The 2025 Motorola Razr Ultra is stepping forward to take that spot. With reinforced construction and style to spare, it wants you to forget about the past and embrace an experience that isn't yet another rectangular wafer of glass and metal. Does it justify its $1,300 price tag? Read CNET Managing Editor Patrick Holland's full review to find out. In the meantime, take a closer look at the new Razr Ultra.

BBC Content Chief Frontrunners Revealed As Race To Replace Charlotte Moore Heats Up

EXCLUSIVE: The BBC's search for its next content chief is gathering pace. Several industry sources told Deadline that the field of contenders has narrowed, with three executives said to be frontrunners for the biggest creative job in British TV, audio, and streaming. More from Deadline Marian Keyes' 'The Walsh Sisters' Series Lands Australian Streaming Deal With Stan Tim Davie Says BBC Is "Bombarded By Regions" Across The UK Looking For Investment BBC & BritBox Unveil Latest Agatha Christie Adaptation They are: Kate Phillips, the BBC's unscripted boss and interim chief content officer; Patrick Holland, Banijay UK's executive chairman; and BBC Studios Productions CEO Zai Bennett. Others are said to be under consideration. Multiple sources said BBC director general Tim Davie has met with Netflix UK chief Anne Mensah, though many are uncertain about her appetite for the role and willingness to take a pay cut. She is adored by her bosses at Netflix, who will want to keep her after a string of hits, including Adolescence. Tom McDonald, the New York-based executive vice president of Nat Geo, is also said to be in the mix. He is highly thought of and his experience working in the U.S. would certainly not count against him. Headhunters Grace Blue and Ibison are helping steer the BBC recruitment process, with applications closing last week. As always, the potential for a dark horse candidate remains a possibility. Others are thought to have ruled themselves out. This includes Jay Hunt, Apple TV+'s boss in Europe, and Channel 4's content supremo Ian Katz. Sources said Apple executive Alison Kirkham was considered, but is said to be happy in her current role. Liam Keelan, Disney's former EMEA originals chief, is not in the running. The successful candidate will replace Charlotte Moore, who is stepping down as chief content officer after four years to join Left Bank Pictures as CEO. She will also oversee international creative output for Sony Pictures Television. The Frontrunners Phillips is widely seen as the executive to beat, with both BBC insiders and influential producers trumpeting her prospects. She has been the BBC's director of unscripted since 2022, overseeing the likes of The Traitors, Strictly Come Dancing, and Gladiators. Insiders have been impressed with how she has acted up in the interim role over the past few weeks, while one ally in the production community said she had been 'groomed' for the position, having worked closely with Moore for years. 'I was in with her recently and was impressed by her grasp of the material, her insights, support for the commissioners, and she was good with the talent,' said another producer. 'That job is about understanding the bigger picture of the BBC, not just greenlighting shows. She has a strong and empowered commissioning team to get on with that.' The idea that she is capable of navigating the unique demands of the role came up repeatedly. Described as one of the toughest jobs in the industry, it requires an ability to guide hits, grip controversy, and safeguard the BBC's public service values as charter renewal negotiations loom. In recent months, Phillips' changes to Strictly Come Dancing helped calm the misconduct storm that engulfed the show, while she has also had to handle the fallout from the Gregg Wallace scandal. 'What Tim is after is someone who really believes and loves the BBC, would live and die for the BBC, rather than someone in it for the glory of the job,' said a BBC executive. 'It's about public service, so he needs a good public servant.' Phillips would also be one of the few candidates who would be the beneficiary of a pay rise, should she be promoted. She currently earns as much as £294,999 ($389,000), while Moore is paid £468,000. Holland, the former BBC2 controller, is regarded as the leading external candidate, even though he is said to be happy at Banijay UK, where he has been since 2022. Sources said the allure of an outsider remains tempting for the BBC, and Holland's mix of commercial and public service experience could work in his favor. As time has gone on, talk around the potential for Holland to take on the top job has grown rather than dimmed. 'He would be a brilliant candidate. He has got PSB passion and journalism/documentary experience. You need someone who can see all sides of a story and has got that grounding in impartiality issues,' said a highly-regarded factual producer. Holland commissioned BAFTA-winning Once Upon a Time in Iraq and Race Across the World during his time at the BBC. A former BBC insider said: 'Patrick always said the only job he'd go back for is the top BBC content job.' Bennett only joined BBC Studios last year, but people close to the former Sky executive believe he is considering Moore's old job. Some think the optics of him jumping ship so soon are unusual, but one person said he was brought to BBC Studios with a specific eye on succession planning for Moore and deepening the corporation's talent bench. With credits including Chernobyl, Brassic, The Only Way Is Essex, and People Just Do Nothing, Bennett knows how to pick a hit. He is also widely regarded as a strong communicator who would be able to articulate the BBC's mission effectively. Moore remains employed by the BBC, but is now entering the final weeks of her tenure. She was an unflinching advocate for the power of public service broadcasting, and the glowing tributes to the job she did suggest she leaves big shoes to fill. Best iPhone 16E Deals: Trade-In an Old Phone for Huge Discounts From Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T and More

We love Apple's iPhones here at CNET, but it doesn't mean we love how expensive phones are these days -- especially with money so tight for a lot of us. The standard iPhone 16 is a great device, but if you want something more affordable, then the new iPhone 16E is your best bet. It starts at just $599, but if you know how, you can get it for even less using the best iPhone 16 deals below. Here's what you need to know. The new iPhone 16E has a four-core A18 processor and a new C1 5G modem -- the most power-efficient modem we've seen on any iPhone model to date. It has a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR display, a 48-megapixel rear camera with 2x telephoto zoom and a 12-megapixel front camera for selfies. Like the flagship iPhone 16 lineup, it's also designed for Apple Intelligence and has a dedicated action button to launch Visual Intelligence. And, according to our reviewer Patrick Holland, it also boasts impressive battery life. "The iPhone 16E can definitely make it through a day on a single charge and, depending on how you use it, it'll likely make it through a day and a half before needing to be plugged in," he wrote. The basic model comes with 128GB of storage, with prices starting at $599. The 16E is now available at Apple and several other retailers and carriers, with multiple ways to save some cash. Some offer discounts with a new line of service, and if you have an older phone you don't mind parting with, you can score substantial savings with a trade-in offer. We'll keep a close eye on offers as they come and go and update this page accordingly, so be sure to check back often. When you trade in an eligible device, Apple offers savings on the new iPhone 16E. Trading in an old phone could save you up to $630, which can potentially score you the basic 128GB model free. However, that discount is only available if you're trading in the iPhone 15 Pro Max, which would be a bit of a downgrade. For the iPhone 14 series, the most you'll save is $450, which is still a solid deal for this affordable model. Note that the older your phone is, the less you will potentially receive for a trade-in device. See at Apple If you order the iPhone 16E at Best Buy and sign up with a carrier, there are ways to save. A qualified activation with Verizon and a trade-in of your old or damaged phone will save you up to $600. If you're an AT&T customer, a qualified activation on an eligible unlimited installment plan can save you up to $384, which drops the starting price to just $6 per month. Discounts will be delivered via bill credits over 36 months. See at Best Buy Customers can order the new iPhone 16E at T-Mobile and there are a few ways to save. Those on a Go5G Plus or Next plan can get it free with an eligible trade-in, while those on other plans can still save up to $300. You can also get the device free with a new line and a trade-in or when switching your existing number over from another carrier. There are also several special offers for military members, first responders and people 55 and older. See at T-Mobile Verizon is offering $420 off the iPhone 16E when you sign up for a new line on an Unlimited Welcome, Plus or Ultimate plan. If you're also trading in an old phone with a new line on one of these plans, you can save up to $600, which scores you the 128GB model free. See at Verizon AT&T is offering up to $384 off iPhone 16E when you purchase it on an installment plan, as long as you have (or switch to) an eligible unlimited plan. That reduces the starting price to just $6 per month with no trade-in required. You'll receive the discount via 36 monthly bill credits. See at AT&T US Cellular is offering many ways to save on the iPhone 16E. Activating a new line or account on a qualifying line will save you up to $830, which scores you the 128GB or 256GB model free. You can also get the 512GB model free with a new line and an eligible trade-in. US Cellular is also offering $500 off with a new prepaid line and the port-in of an existing number, which drops the starting price to $99. See at US Cellular Order your iPhone 16E at Boost Mobile and sign up for the Unlimited Premium plan ($60 a month), and you can snag a new iPhone for as little as $300. You can also pay full price for the phone upfront, which gets you a free year of service. See at Boost Mobile If you activate a new line on Visible's $45-per-month Plus Pro plan and buy the new iPhone 16E outright or on an installment plan, you'll get $10 per month back via bill credits over 36 months, saving you $360 total. See at Visible You can order the iPhone 16E from Walmart for $549 or just a little more than $15 per month for 36 months with an eligible activation through AT&T. Verizon customers will get it for about $17 per month, which is $50 off. See at Walmart There are three storage configurations for the new iPhone 16E. The pricing for each model is as follows: 128GB: $599 256GB: $699 512GB: $899 The iPhone 16E is only available in two colors -- white or black. Apple also has a silicone case that retails for $39 and comes in five colors -- winter blue, fuchsia, lake green, black and white. The iPhone 16E is the first budget-friendly Apple phone since the third-gen iPhone SE hit shelves back in 2022. Preorders started on Feb. 21, and the phone started shipping on Feb. 28.

Apple, I'm (Sky) Blue About Your iPhone 17 Air Color

I can't help but feel blue about the latest rumor that Apple's forthcoming iPhone 17 Air will take flight in a subtle, light-hued color called sky blue. Sky blue isn't a new color for Apple. It's the featured shade of the current M4 MacBook Air, a shimmer of cerulean so subtle as to almost be missed. It's silver left too close to an aquarium; silver that secretly likes to think it's blue but doesn't want everyone else to notice. Do Apple employees get to go outside and see a real blue sky? It's actually vivid, you can check for yourself. Perhaps the muted sky blue color reflects a Bay Area late winter/early spring frequent layer of clouds like we typically see here in Seattle. "Who cares?" you might find yourself saying. "Everyone gets a case anyway." I hear you and everyone else who's told me that. But design-focused Apple is as obsessive about colors as they are about making their devices thinner. And I wonder if their heads are in the clouds about which hues adorn their pro products. I'm more invested in this conversation than most -- I'm one of those freaks who doesn't wrap my phone in a case. I find cases bulky and superfluous, and I like to be able to see Apple's design work. Also, true story, I've broken my iPhone screen only twice: First when it was in a "bumper" that Apple sent free in response to the iPhone 4 you're-holding-it-wrong Antennagate fiasco, and second when trying to take long exposure starry night photos using what I didn't realize was a broken tripod mount. My one-week-old iPhone 13 Pro slipped sideways and landed screen-first on a pointy rock. A case wouldn't have saved it. My current model is an iPhone 16 Pro in black titanium -- which I know seems like avoiding color entirely -- but previously I've gone for colors like blue titanium and deep purple. I wanted to like deep purple the most but it came across as, in the words of Patrick Holland in his iPhone 14 Pro review, "a drab shade of gray or like Grimace purple," depending on the light. Maybe the issue is too many soft blues. Since the iPhone Pro age began with the iPhone 11 Pro, we've seen variations like blue titanium (iPhone 15 Pro), sierra blue (iPhone 13 Pro) and pacific blue (iPhone 12 Pro). Pacific blue is the boldest of the bunch, if by bold you mean dark enough to discern from silver, but it's also close enough to that year's graphite color that seeing blue depends on the surrounding lighting. By comparison, the blue (just "blue") color of the iPhone 12 was unmistakably bright blue. In fact, the non-Pro lines have embraced vibrant colors. It's as if Apple is equating "pro" with "sophisticated," as in "A real pro would never brandish something this garish." I see this in the camera world all the time: If it's not all-black, it's not a "serious" camera. And yet I know lots of pros who are not sophisticated -- proudly so. People choose colors to express themselves, so forcing that idea of professionalism through color feels needlessly restrictive. A bright pink iPhone 16 might make you smile every time you pick it up but then frown because it doesn't have a telephoto camera. Color is also important because it can sway a purchase decision. "I would buy a sky blue iPhone yesterday," my colleague Gael Cooper texted after the first rumor popped online. When each new generation of iPhones arrive, less technically different than the one before, a color you fall in love with can push you into trading in your perfectly-capable model for a new one. And lest you think Apple should just stick with black and white for its professional phones: Do you mean black, jet black, space black, midnight black, black titanium, graphite or space gray? At least the lighter end of the spectrum has stuck to just white, white titanium and silver over the years. I'm sure Apple has reams of studies and customer feedback that support which colors make it to production each year. Like I said, Apple's designers are obsessive (in a good way). And I must remind myself that a sky blue iPhone 17 Air is a rumored color on a rumored product so all the usual caveats apply. But we're talking about Apple here. The scrappy startup that spent more than any other company on business cards at the time because each one included the old six-color Apple logo. The company that not only shaped the first iMac like a tipped-over gumdrop, that not only made the case partially see-through but then made that cover brilliant Bondi blue. Embrace the iPhone colors, Apple. If that makes you nervous, don't worry: Most people will put a case on it anyway.
