Former Cardinals pay tribute to Patrick Peterson at retirement Bruce Arians, Tyrann Mathieu, Carson Palmer, Larry Fitzgerald were part of a tribute video.
It was Patrick Peterson Day on Monday for the Arizona Cardinals as returned to retire from the NFL as a member of the team that drafted him. At his announcement at the team's headquarters in Tempe, many former teammates were present to celebrate his fantastic and potentially Hall of Fame career.
But in addition to many former teammates being at the press conference, the Cardinals shared a tribute video on social media that included former coaches and teammates.
Former Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians, former Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer, former Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgerald and former Cardinals safety Tyrann Mathieu (now with the New Orleans Saints) all had kind words and praise for Peterson, an eight-time Pro Bowler and three-time All-Pro in his 10 seasons with the Cardinals.
Arians jokes about wanting to beat Peterson at golf and win some money.
Palmer said great things about practicing against Peterson and Peterson's work in the community.
Mathieu attributes his longevity in the NFL to what Peterson taught him.
Fitzgerald spoke not only about things on the field but also in his personal life.
It was a fitting tribute to a guy who not only played at the highest level but also was a good teammate and treated the fanbase well.
