Curtain comes down on Dundalk 2024/25 darts season
First Division
Also in the first division, Uncle Toms played Damh O Thuaidh. Paul Callan and Johnny Knobloch won the opening match for O Thuaidh but things quickly changed as Uncle Toms won the next two double games and a singles match to put Padraig Gorham's team 3-1 up.
Paul Callan pulled a game back for Damh O Thuaidh before Uncle Toms won the next to take a 4-2 lead in a first to five match.
However, in a remarkable comeback Simon Wykes, Alan Rogan and Paddy Gibney won the last three games for Damh O'Thuaidh to snatch victory and thus complete a league & Cup double.
Premier Division
Meanwhile in the Northend Bar on Saturday, Martin Carvill beat Kevin Thompson 3-0 to lift the Singles titles but, that was just the start of a great night for Martin as his team, Big House Eagles won the Premier Division Cup with a 4-1 win overTthe Commercial.
In winning the Divisional Cup, it added to the Premier Division League, Open Shield and Memorial Cup that Big House Eagles had already won this season.
Second Division Finals
Meanwhile last Thursday the Second Division Finals Night took place in The Bodhran.
It was a great night for Aidan McShane and his team, Callans from out the Castleblayney Road. Aidan got the better of Graham Gonnelly to win the Second Division Singles title while he also won the deciding game in the Divisional Cup after his team had thrown away a 4-1 lead to allow Punters Athletic to level the match at 4-4 and send it into a deciding final game.
In winning the Cup, Callans completed the Divisional League and Divisional Cup Double.
Also presented this year was an award for the player in each division who collected the most Player of the Match awards across the season.
The Second Division winner was Brian Fitzpatrick (Uisce Beatha), the First Division winner was Wayne Fry (Uncle Kevins) while Tony Kenna (Punters Mix) was the Premier Division winner.
Cathal Mulholland Hall of Fame
The Cathal Mulholland Hall of Fame Award made a welcome return to the league and was brought up to date: 2020 Inductee: Joe Finnegan
2021 Inductee: Martin "The Pup" McCartney; 2022 Inductee: Aidan Minto; 2023 Inductee: Paddy Dixon RIP; 2024 Inductee: Davey Boland; 2025 Inductee: Brendan O'Rourke.
