Officials break ground on Grove Place II in New Orleans' Hollygrove neighborhood
NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — A groundbreaking has happened for a new development which will bring 36 affordable homes to the Hollygrove neighborhood.
16 of the rental units will be brand new, while 20 existing apartments will be refurbished. All will be located within one mile of a grocery store, a medical center, schools and public transportation.

They will also be built to be more durable before and after a natural disaster.
'Every single one will have emergency backup power, and it will be dedicated to an emergency circuit. So in the event of a hurricane, tenants don't come back to a home with spoiled food, which is one of the highest costs in a disaster that they had faced,' said Paul Irons with New Orleans Restoration Properties.
